Also how does it store the pictures?

Sorry I wasn't clear enough. Let's say you have a cell phone camera module (CMOS), how can you take that and make a camera that actually takes pictures and stores it. I mean what do you need to power it, and also what do you need to store the pictures on. Also consider this if we just threw away the cell phone altogether.

Your cellphone camera works just like any other digital camera.
There is an optical chip that measures how much light hits the chip.
Instead of a chemical reaction like normal film does when light hits the film, the chip changes the light hitting the chip into electrical information.

This information is then stored on the phones memory. Either the memory installed in the phone, or on a memory accessory device.

O.K Lets break your question down into three parts.

1. How do you take a CMOS and take pictures ?
You need a lens and the architecture to click a picture and store it.
2. Where would you store it ?
You need a media like film or Hard memory to store it.
3. Power Source ?
You can use A/C or D/C power.
In short you would like to make a camera using CMOS. Isnt it .
Theortically it can be done by having different sub assemblies for the three main components. Prcatically you may have to start a camera company.

On the pad where the numbers and symbols are, you'll see a camera, press it and take a picture and then it'll ask if you want to save it, or just press save.
