why some people molest children? any thing wrong with their mental health?

Even hardened criminals in Jail hate child molesters,and child molesters fear jail for this very reason.

Its linked to feelings of inadequacy, and children are seen as being weaker than the molester, and they get some feeling of power by molesting the weaker victim, which is so sad for the child. They also cannot have normal relations because of their low self esteem. When they damage the victim it is even worse, and many are pathologically unsound.

There is definetly a lot wrong with their mental health..and they should be castrated, however barbaric that may sound to some people. The horrible part is that many child molesters walk around living outwardly normal lives, and many will never get found out...they are often where children are, and that is even worse...and when caught in one country will often move to live in another country, because the system lets them do this.

As a teacher and as a parent, I shudder when I come across someone I know is a molester....and they walk along everywhere, waiting for justice to catch up.

What I find disturbing is that children who are molested have a higher chance of being molesters as they get older.

They'll tell their counselor that they hated "it", and want to kill the perpetrator that did this to them, -but then they go right out and duplicate what they've "learned" and molest the next generation.

Humans are strange this way. I guess popular opinion, or any other topic is more so about "conditioning" or brain-washing, than it is about "choosing", rational or logic.

Hi Sara. I was also sexual at a very young age. At an early age I was introduced to pornography and my mind was distorted in all ways imaginable. As I got much older I came to know Christ and it became clear to me the damage I had created in my mind. Though I still experience many interruptions in my thoughts everyday, I have to say that it's an ongoing battle. If you believe the telling certain people will help overcome your trials, then, by all means, do tell them. But be sure that they will support you. Some people might not understand. In the end it's only Jesus that you need to confess to. He will heal your mind and clear your guilt. God bless.

Mental health is surely distorted. Usually molesters have been violated themselves and repeat the offense, so there are unresolved issues which they carry on through their lives.

not in all cases. in some, absolutely, they have problems, but its not really ethically wrong or immoral to find someone under 18 attractive. to act on it is wrong outside of marriage, but thats a whole new issue i suppose. if they change the legal age to 19 tomorrow, are we going to think that people who like the 18 year olds are sick?

uh.. yes I would think something is wrong if you molest children.
