I just want to rant! My property taxes in Chicago have increased 300% over the past 6 years to almost $10,000 for a small condo. I know that I could make a few $ if I sold..But is this fair? will taxes reverse if the values go down??? Anybody else pissed off out there?

I saw it coming and moved out of Pennsylvania, or I would also be paying over $10K property tax. There are plenty of places with much lower property taxes, no snow either. When you are able, get out of Chicago.
Property taxes don't go down, only up.

Do you mean $10K or $1K ?
As I am paying less than $1K for a 3 bed / 3 bath , 2500 sq foot house . . . I would recommend you relocate to the country , especially if that $10K is NOT a typo !
The $9K difference woud pay for a BMW .

I wonder if your taxes would go down if you elected conservatives to sit on your city council?
Conservatives are famous for tax cuts, and they're also famous for being criticized for bad tax cuts (as if there were any such thing).
Some people can't appreciate a reduction until they get hit in the wallet.
