Your soul is trapped in a brain dead body.

I asked this in regards to Terri Schivo but the Yahoo Nazis were not letting it go.

Her soul was trapped in her brain dead body. The brain controls all motor skills as well as sight and eye movement.

A lobotomy is the same thing. The brain is affected, not the soul.

If her brain was dead (not functioning) but her body still alive due to machines then her soul was already gone. But, you are right in that a spirit/soul could be trapped if the person is still alive with brain activity but is in a coma or requires machines to live.

People that keep other people on life support machines are selfish. Granted they my have hope, and once in a million that person does come back. But, I'll they can think about is how their life will be without them.

I knew a none religious person who lost his father, and although he was upset for the first while. he realized that he was only upset because he lost something, selfish. But, his father hasn't lost anything at all and is in a better place if you believe anything or even nothing.

Possibly, but not necessarily. The body is just a vessel that the soul can generally leave at any time. It would be impossible for the body to truly function without a soul, however. I think it's more likely that the person is brain dead BECAUSE the soul has already left.

At least, that's what I think.

Terry Schiavo's soul had long departed that physical body.

I believe that the soul leaves the body a little bit at a time. I believe this because I have watched as someone slowly died and it left them Little by little. In a sudden death I think that the soul is to shocked to do anything right away. It might take days or even years before it realizes its death - ghost. In the case of a slow death, the soul has moved on. In a fast death, if it has not been able to recognize what has happened to it, there is a good chance that part of it has stayed.

Lol @ all the Atheist. Yeah imagine that man has a soul, you have no concept of what a soul generally is. The soul is not in the body btw, so the soul would not be trapped. The soul has been proven through countless NDE experiences and otherwise, and even the physical spiritual has been proven through the vital life force/vital energy which invigorates a organism. Atheist have n one to blame but themselves for not knowing or experiencing. Why blame others for your lack of experintial knowledge, with respect to the soul? Who needs to prove anything to some disenfranchised quasi-intellectuals? You can prove it in yourself. Why have you guys failed to already? I say you can prove it in yourself, it is through direct experience.

But the soul is not in the body, only a essence of it, spiritual principle within the mind.

btw, I'm not guessing. I know, having experienced directly on a number of occasions. While others may not know I know. The soul self IS NOT in the body. People generally don't know their relationship with the soul, which is a being of pure light, intellect, and energy.

Often times people think that the vital energy within their body is the soul and that is a grave error.

So all you people actually believe in the concept of a "soul." Fascinating. And interesting that you use the phrase "brain dead" while talking about it.

PS: Passerby, you don't know jack. Everyone has strange experiences, but not everyone describes them in mystical, unprovable terms - only those with a childish need to believe. Try taking some LSD and see how 'mystical' things can get, yet with no need for a mystical 'explanation.'

Ok the soul is an idea we manifest because we have the ability to reason and think. we know the term of soul because it was told to us and we take this idea and label our internal dialog as it. when you are brain dead you lose the ability to think and reason. depending on what deity you choose the answer will change as where your soul goes. so there is no way you could get a definite answer on this because everyone has a different outlook on what the concept of a soul is.You are better of learning how to bring someone out of brain damage and answering the question for yourself.

Actually the existence of the soul has been proven in the many ancient scriptures, such as the Gita, which was written 5,000 years ago. But the science is eternal.
Without the soul there can be no life. So undoubtedly Terrie's soul was present until her last breath.
Where her soul went after she died, I do not know, it depends on the good and bad she has done in her lifetime.

Since your blood is still flowing, than you are right, since the blood is the soul according to the Bible, unless you're a pagan who believes in the immortal soul.
