Why are some christians claiming Jesus was not God incarnate? John 1:1 clearly states In the beginning was the Word (Jesus) and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS God. If Jesus is your Lord, why are you claiming He is not? I am confused. In another question people are reffering to Jesus as an angel in the old testament. Jesus is NOT an angel, He's God in the flesh, He is immanuel "God with us"

Wow, both of you references there seem to be responses to my recent answers. I mentioned John 1:1 and I mentioned Jesus being an angel of the Lord in the Old Testament. I'm not contradicting myself. Obviously I understand that Jesus is God. But if you have a concordance look up some verses that talk about the angel of the Lord. You will see that it is talking about God himself. But we know that God, in his glorious form cannot appear to man or the man would die. But he could appear in the form of Jesus. I in no way think that Jesus was a mere angel. That is one of the ways the Bible puts it before Jesus came as a man.

John is the most spiritual of all the Gospels.John was the disciple that Jesus loved (yes, He seemd to play favorites). Only one other of the original twelve wrote a gospel account (Matthew). This passage in John 1 may certainly lead to some confusion. Understand that the trinity is a spiritual, not earthly concept. We can utilize things of this earth though to illustrate the relationship. One such illustratin is a pitcher of water and three glasses. The spirit is symbolized by the water and each of the glasses is symbolic of each of the three forms that (according to scripture) the spirit takes. One of the problems most people have is that of trying to correlate things which they understand on earth, with the way things are as far as spirtualikty is concerned. In the John 1 passage cited how many instances of "word" are there. So, then, how many offices are essentially being hinted at. Yeshua has been called the "living, or incarnate word". Consider that the first instance of "word" is really spirit and the second Jesus and then you'd have the the entire complement. Those who claim Yeshua is not G-d are not Christians (there are some cults out there who appear to be Christians who teach this).

There are people who would prefer to remove divine attributes from Yeshua, which is essentially saying that He isn't G-d or co-equal to G-d. Yeshua was the son of G-d in the flesh and was perfectly human, G-d and Jewish (His earthly parent - Mary - was of the house of David, David being a Jew). The angels are all created heavenly beings (spiritually) and there are limitations on their power. Yeshua had no such limitations. When was the last time you saw an angel walk on water, or feed 5,000?

You might be talking about me. I did not say that Jesus was an angel in the Old Testament. What I said was that any Old Testament passage that refers to Yahwei, the Angel of the Lord or the Angel of Great Counsel is referring to Jesus, the pre-incarnate Logos. "Angel" just means "messenger." Every time that God spoke or appeared to man in the Old Testament, it was Jesus Christ. The language of the Old Testament sometimes refers to Jesus as an "angel" because, as the second person of the Holy Trinity, he communicated the words of God to man.

Some people believe that Jesus was God's son, and thus God incarnate. Some people believe that Jesus was just a prophet. Some people don't believe in Jesus at all

Different religions believe different things. The bible is translated thousands of times. Bibles differ in what they say...just like the beliefs of religion.

Consider the reference to Jesus as an "angel" in the Old Testament, people probably are referring to when God wrestled with Jacob.

Lack of knoweledge on your first question your correct no need for confusion.
Jesus as an angel
In the old testament there are refrences to the Angel of the lord.
There are only 3 angels that are named in the Bible: Michael, Gaberial, and Lucifer
I have heard it said, that the Angel of the lord was Jesus before he came to earth as a man. One verse KJ like this is were Jacob wresteled.
The first verse says man but the last verse he says he saw the face of god some say it was an angel my preacher insist it was God, you may want to look at NIV as well.
Melkizadeck the preist who never died just disapeared has had discusion as to weather that could have been Christ among us.
Gen 32:24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

Gen 32:25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

Gen 32:26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

Gen 32:27 And he said unto him, What [is] thy name? And he said, Jacob.

Gen 32:28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

Gen 32:29 And Jacob asked [him], and said, Tell [me], I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore [is] it [that] thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.

Gen 32:30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

Jesus IS God.

The angel reference is from Genesis when Abraham was visited by three angels. This was right before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. If you recall Abraham bargained with the angel as to spare Sodom but the angel (Christ) found no one righteous to save.
See Genesis chapter 14.
