Why does sneezing lead people to saying, "God Bless You" while you are spreading germs too?

i know the answer but i,m not shore how many seconds well when you sneeze your heart stops for 500th of a second and year dead in that time and if you good your are blest but your hart starts to beat again. that is the right answer.

it is a habit now...most people dont mean it because there is no longer any special reason 2 give them blessings. the phrase came out of dark ages when the bubonic plague was spreading around europe. sneezing was a sign that some1 had the illness so when some1 sneezed people would say God bless you because there was a good chance that person would die. we continue 2 say that now and it is just a habit 4 most people. it is good however 2 bless random people 4 no reason

A lot of people believe that since when you sneeze your heart stops, saying god bless you is because god allowed it to start back up. sneezing is the body's way of resetting the heart

Years and years ago, people thought sneezing was a sign that you were cursed by the devil and you were trying to sneeze him out. Silly but nonetheless true.

Back then it was believed that when you sneeze you sneeze out your soul; thus, by someone other than you saying "God bless you", they save you and return your soul back to your body.

It is believed that when you sneeze you expel the evil spirits that reside in you. Therefore, saying God Bless You helps in keeping those evil spirits away.

In the older days..they thought when u sneeze u r expelling evil or something. so they would say bless you.

Well back in the old times it was thought that if you sneezed. You were ridding yourself of the devil. So they just said "god bless you" for you were ridding yourself of the devil.
