A change of diet may be all that is required in some cases. Certainly an increase in protein and certain vitamins should help rid the head of baldness, for which incidentally, there is no real understandable cure. What's happened to you is best described as a lucky break.

There are different forms of baldness. Telogen effluvium is a sudden, temporary hair loss caused by acute illness, trauma, surgery or stress. You didn't mention any of these symptoms or how long you had been going bald but this particular condition is usually self correcting and can affect people of all ages. There is also a chronic form of this condition in which there is a continuous cycle of losing hair and growing it back.
Take care.

Hmmmm. I know that guys by reputation hate to go see doctors or try on clothing in stores, but this might be a good one to bring up to your doctor.
It might be that when you had more weight, it did in fact bring on a medical condition that caused hair loss - excess testosterone production or for all I know a thyroid imbalance.
Probably losing weight offset whatever hormonal issue was causing the hair loss, but now there's a new question: what caused it in the first place, and it could be symptomatic of a lurking medical problem? Diabetes or a thyroid issue, for example?
In any event, congratulations on your lifestyle change. I need to emulate your example.
