Where abouts in the back of your leg??? If it's in your calf then please go to see your Doctor ASAP, it could be a DVT (deep vein thrombosis that can be life threatening) so please seek help just To be on the safe side. Sometimes pregnant women get DVT's because of the pressure put on the lower part of the body by the baby. But please go o see a Doctor as soon as you can, the numbness could be that the blood supply is being cut off by the clot. It could be the sciatic Nurse sometimes pregnant women get that, specially if the baby is lying in a particular position; but the fact it's in the back of your leg and your experiencing numbness I would defiantly go see the Doctor TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE the clot could travel to your brain or result in a pulmonary embolism. I am also seven months pregnant. Before I got prego I had disc surgery so think what you are talking about could mean your nerves are being pinched either because of a disc or because the weight of the baby. Describe this to the doctor but I have the same thing it helps to change positions but tell the doctor. What you descrie is almost textbook for the nerves being pinched because the exact thing happened to me and this is what they said. If it is discs don't do surgery I did and it caused more problems. Good luck!

Sounds like the baby is resting on the sciatic nerve. Get a massage and maybe a good chiropractor, apply heat and cold other than that there is not a lot you can do while you are pregnant.

Sounds like your sciatic nerve. I had it with both my pregnancies and it really hurt. Prenatal massage can help and sometimes the baby moves off the nerve and solves the problem. Unfortunately, not much you can do. Like anything, if you are worried call you OB. Hang in there.

This site looks good.
I used yoga to relieve trapped nerves and lower back pain in the last trimester.
Have a look at the site and also "Homebirth" by Sheila Kitzinger is fantastic as is her other book for general pregnancy.
There is relief - you just have to seek it.
Good luck with it all!

i had the same pain for a while, and my doctor gave me a book with stretches to do everyday. a week after doing the stretches everyday morning(when i woke up) and night(when i went to bed) they went away, i kept doing them throughout the rest of my pregnancy and everything was fine.

it does sound like your sciatic nerve--ouch.
I get that a lot, the only thing that works is laying on your left side for a while.
sorry :(
