I am pentecostal, I'm 17 and I' m the only one left in my house that has not back slidden, My parents, are gone(out of church) and I have no one to keep me strong. I watched how they began to question standard and I am starting to question them now too, not all of them certain ones....I attend an awesome church preaching is great. We just had our first service in our brandnew building! its beautiful! but It does not feel the same...

I was wondering if there are any pentecostals out there. list your city and state (if you want list your pastor) and tell me your standards....;

1. sacramento, ca
2. Pastor Myles Young
3. No cutting or coloring your hair! (totally agree)
4. No make up (i dont know about clear nail polish)
5. no jewlery. ( I think that if your mariied a simple little band is okay depending on what church your at. its not okay at mine so I would respect that.) only jewlery i would ever were is watch and wedding bands

6. no movies...I did not go to church till I was 12~ I grew up with t.V and it never entertained me. my parents have one in our house....I'm not entertained by it...its not a weakness for me but I dont understand where this standard came from. I heard our pastors wife say its a waste of time! I TOTALLY AGREE with her. I could be doing something better. just like this is a waste of my time also. but where did we get this from.... not putting other gods before us? or something to that affect!
7. we talk in tounges and I know you have to do that no doubt there!
I just dont know......i'm trying my best to be strong!!!!!

I gree with everything you wrote Angela. I used to go to a Pentecostal church here in NY, but I backslide. Continue your faith, and never let go of your Lord. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house (Acts 16:31). This is a promise to you, and everyone who believes in him. He will saved your entire family. The word of God is the only truth in this world; and his word will remain for ever. Believe it with all your heart and soul, and she will never failed you. Jesus will NEVER FAILED YOU.

Not cutting a woman's hair is scriptural as you know. It won't cost you your salvation but it matters to God. Coloring probably doesn't matter so much because there is no clear scripture against it. I've found if God doesn't spell something out in scripture He doesn't care that much about it. The other things could go either way and it's hard to get into the details here. I can tell you my wife wears earrings (clip on) but she does remove them when she is on the platform at church. She is the music director and the assistant pastor so she spends a lot of time at her piano on the platform and teaching/preaching from the pulpit. She removes them out of respect for God, not out of fear. She doesn't want people to notice her when she is "up front". As you know, serving God is not about rules and regulations, it's about loving Him and His truth. Men put laws on people that God never intended.
It so happens my sister-in-law lives in Davis and she has served God all her life. She could be a great resource if you wanted to talk to someone locally. She would be happy to help. Email me if you would like more info.
Walking with God in the Holy Ghost is not meant to be a struggle or a hardship. He has more for you than you can imagine.

I attended an Assembly of god church for awhile. The experience left me running from God. I was a hairs breath away from atheism for almost a year.

I saw those wackos rolling on the floor and speaking in gibberish. The pastor was spouting hate from the pulpit. I heard him say that sexual orientation is a choice, which is a lie. I heard him say that there were people who wore crosses who are not really "true" Christians.

The teach this crap to their children. It is despicable. I took my son once and I told him that if he ever heard that homosexuality was a choice that he should know that is a lie and he would never have to go back there again.

In my church we have many different kinds of people....some have tattoos and peircings galore and others are very conservative and some are like they never left the 70's..lol....we are a vast array of individuals and we all love the lord.....
we are Pentecostal ..but we allow hair to be cut and makeup and jewelry and music ., we wear jeans to church and some dress up all the time....we have some with orange or purple hair and others who just color to cover the grey...lol..we are very up to date and have very free worship services.....but even as good as this sounds to some it is still a church that is steeped in religion and tradition and I think it should be about the Word and relationship with our creator....not a coffee shop to fellowship in and such....so that is why I just recently left and that is why I will not give the name or place..

I am from a 'holiness' denomination of Church of God in Christ in Pasadena, California... Just because no one in your family is standing for Christ doesn't give you the o.k. to backslide too. God is counting on you to bring your family back in....You may be the only 'Jesus' that they see...Don't let Him down...Get in your Word and develop a consistant prayer life....Ask the Lord to allow you to live holy even in an 'unholy' household, and to help you to draw your family back to Him....I will be praying for you...DON'T GIVE UP!!!! p.s...many young people at my church (including myself at one time) are sometimes the only saved ones in our family...You are not alone....
