i was wondering if doing about 200-300 push ups a day and about 600-700 sit ups a day would make much of a difference by the summer time?

Yeah just break them down at night and in the morning. So do 100 push ups and 300 sit ups in the morning. And the same at night, somtimes that can be better than going to the gym.

NO it's not enought unless you are naturally lean and already have this sort of physique. Refer to bodybuilding.com for some great ideas. Just buy some barbells and include some of the activities into your regime.
