Paradoxical side effects are usually a result of too high a dose (sometimes deliberate) and/or combination with alcohol. Adjusting the dosage usually causes them to cease.

I think what you mean is alprazolam. The brand name for this drug is Xanax. This is usually prescribed for anxiety or panic disorders although some doctors prescribe it for sleep. Some of the most common side effects are drowsiness, sedation, depression, fatigue, light headedness, disorientation, anger, restlessness, confusion, crying, headache, constipation, dry mouth, diarrhea, nausea etc, etc, etc.
The best advice that I could give you is to call your pharmacist. You can call any Walgreen's if it is after hours and a pharmacist can talk to you if you have any concerns. Don't feel stupid calling, that is their job!
