OCD:
To be diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, one must have either obsessions or compulsions alone, or obsessions and compulsions, according to the DSM-IV-TR diagnostic criteria.

AD(H)D:
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) (sometimes referred to as ADD for those without hyperactivity) is thought to be a neurological disorder, always present from childhood, which manifests itself with symptoms such as hyperactivity, forgetfulness, poor impulse control, and distractibility.

Anxiety:
Most people are familiar with this.

If you refer to some of the links below, its easy to see that NOBODY could possibly give sound psychiatric, medical or psychological advice given the limited information provided.

I sincerely ask you to work with professionals, as I don't think this forum will provide you with the help you need.

I have alot of these feelings, especially when I was younger. I was raised by a very angry father and passive mom. My counselor referred me to ACOA, which is Adult Children of Alcoholics. They get together everywhere and discuss the day to day goings ons of fearful and paranoid emotions that they have. This, combined with an antianxiety RX has helped. I am concerned with the amount of RX's that you are taking, because it really does not seem fair to your brain to ask it to remain "calm" and process that many chemicals. You need to find someone to do therapy with and approach the disorders you have. I have ADD, but right now I am needing to deal with anxiety and depression (my mom just died a little while back) so I am going to deal with that first before the ADD (I just found out about my having this). I would, also, research taking klonzepam or klonopin (?) for anxiety, but not if you have an addictive personality. This is an excellent immediate anxiety reducer. I can take this occasionally for anxiety because I do not like the feelings that barbituates provide (on a regular basis), but I will take them on a bad day when I am snapping at my family. I would, also, force yourself to do the things that relax you. Computer games, hot bath, it's different for everyone. We usually know what we need, we just don't take the time to do it. Good Luck with your friend.

Psychotropic medications can cause feelings of paranoia, especially in children and adolescents. This person needs to talk to their doctor (or whoever is prescribing their meds) about these paranoid thoughts. They may want to consider changing their medication.

It is all a part of their mental problems..they are suspicious, and untrusting of others, and part of the OCD is constant worrying about things that 'might' happen...the best you can do is to try to assure this person at all times...they will thank you for it later.

well, they obviously must have some mental illness issues if they are having this problem AND taking medication for similar problems.
