Last week i took a band-aid off my arm and there was this red rash in the shape of the bandaid (minus the pad bit). The rash kind wept and went a little crusty in patches but seems to be starting to fade. Does anyone know why this might have happened?

You can be allergic to band-aids?!

It's an allergic reaction to either latex or the adhesive. Try latex free bandages to see if they are better. If it's the adhesive, you might have to use a different brand, or try using guaze pads with adhesive tape. That's a bit of a pain to do, but it's just a "primative" band-aid.

You are allergic to the plastic in the bandage. I also have allergies to plastic bandages and it does the same things. Try fabric bandages. It may work better. Tell your medical professional if you are having surgery at some point so they can allow for this allergy before the rash starts. Believe me I had trouble with this AFTER a surgery and it took a while to find a bandage that didn't cause a rash. Eventually they found a cotton bandage that worked better.

Maybe you're allergic to the band-aid. ? If it keeps doing this, go to your doctor and ask why it's happening, even if it doesn't cause pain, you should still figure out what's going on.
