Why does it seem that some christians are so quick to attack other people? Its embarrasing. I read some of the answers on this site and think 'Wow, I actually share a God with some of these people?' After all, Jesus said that he who is without sin should throw the first stone.. and to be human is to sin, so no one is qualified. Does anyone have an answer for that sort of behavior? (please, no 'christians are stupid!' answers) Is it a superiority complex? (pride is sin..silly people) Has anyone noticed a coorelation between intolerance and some specific region, age group, denomination, ect? What sort of mindset does it require to ignore Jesus's actual message in favor of telling people they'll burn for eternity? Do people actually enjoy that?

Paint - I feel as you do. I see people on BOTH sides or ALL sides insulting others.

To me, regressing to insults and name calling shows a lack of education and knowledge about all world beliefs. Those who do this may just be going along with the gang, doing it for pointless points, taking advantage of the anonymity of the internet, or simply following a fad to be at one or the other swing of the pendulum.

I do not have any respect for Christians (and yes I am one) who preach, judge, or threaten. They make a mockery of Jesus and his teachings.

Human nature tends to overrule our spiritual nature. Guess who we're listening to when we obey our "human" nature. The scriptures teach us that G-d looks on the heart. There may be some people who, on the outsided, you can't begin to see the heart. But look at the example of Jesus and His Talmadim (students of the talmud - disciples). Look at them throughout the course of His time with them, look at how they considered themselves at one point, about who would be the greatest and so on. Yet, even initially, even with Judas, He had looked on their heart. It has been said, and rightly so, that it is very easy to find the bad and you have to look hard to see the good.

Another aspect of this is that a majority of people seem to believe that in order for themselves to be lifted up, that they have to put the other person down. Which is contrary to the truth. It is when a person seeks to elevate others, that they themselves will rise also. Which is why Yeshua taught that one needs to seat themselves further back at the banquet table, rather then up at the front (which puts other people down).

With respect to this site: it is the worldliness within the Christians who have not allowed Christ to be supreme. There is so much of the big I and little you that permeates the world of the church, and that is an indication that Christians are not aware of who the big I really is. Remember, where pride is concerned, that the word I takes up residency in the middle of the word pr I de. I being the least most important word in the english language. There are some regions of this country (northeast) where people may seem to be less tolerant, certainly still in regions of the south with respect to age old race issues. Some people seem to go with what they've been taught and ignore the underlying message of the bible (LOVE). If people would learn to love and forgive themselves for their own failures they may not become as unmerciful and unforgiving as they are.

First of all I completely agree with "Southwind" on how Christians should act. However you are asking why do they condemn so quickly.

I think that there are three main answers for this:

a) To them its open season on Christians, and they are fighting back

b) They really think that they have the answer, yet fewer people are listening to them

c) They see their way of life eroding away and they are at a loss to stop it.

All of the above are true. However, this has been true for the past 500 years. In a land where freedom is cherished in the past the way to deal with those three problems sited above is to comdemn those that oppose you. Unfortunately for the Christians you are talking about, this type of reaction only backfires these days.

Hope this helps

God bless
