Everyone in his family knows me; even his friends. They have all primarily seen me. As for my family, they have only seen a photo & know of him. We've been together for four years going on five. He gave me a lame excuse as to why he hasn't came around to meet my family. Now I'm away at college & I asked him to spend new years with me. He says yes & stood me up again. I love this man with all my heart, but he always finds ways to frustrate me. I've put up with it for 4 going on 5 years & I'm getting tiered of it. I've told him once or twice before & he told me he would change & I thought this change would make me happy now all it is doing is making me internally cry. I love him & I want to talk to him, but he is busy right now & I am full of anger, frustration, & sadness because I feel like I can not rely on him. Why does love do this and what would you do if you were in my situation? Remember I've put up with this for years, I've told him, but I really love & want 2b w/ him.

You say you have put up with it for years, are you willing to put up with it for many more years to come? However he behaves now there will be likely little change in the years to come. It sounds like he treats you disrespectfully. Is this what you want or what you are willing to put up with? Is it how you want your children (future) to see you be treated?

Yes i know the situation. My husband said and still says he wants to and will change.12 years,i am still waiting for a change.I put up with him because of my children. He is not a bad person.Just inpatient and has a short temper.Other than that he would've been perfect.Anyways walk away before you get stock in the mad.All i know, love doesn't hurt.He doesn't want to meet with your family, because he knows he is not going to be true to you or them.I would move on if i were you.Life is short to waist on someone who doesn't deserve.Think about it.Value yourself.

He has wasted five years of your life. Take a stand and make it stop. What you are feeling is familiarity and an old love....its not the right kind of love toots. Love doesn't do that, you might love him, but he doesn't love you. He is disrespecting you and taking you for granted. Move on with your life and find someone that treats you like you should be treated.

I know this might hurt, but if he loved you he would have been there, thats all there is to it. When I was in love I would have given my kidney to be in the right place with the one I loved.
I am not in love anymore because she was using me, and stringing me along.
It sounds like your friend is doing the same things to you. He is being disrespectful to you and the relationship you want to work out.
Now you know, make the best of it and try to move on.

you have to talk seriously about this. give him a ultimatum: have some time and meet your family or break up. tell him what his actions make you feel. this is almost 5 years, there must be a reason why he kept on avoiding meeting your parents. it could be an indication that he's having second thoughts if he likes to spend his life with you.
so youre just in college. this guy may not yet be ready to meet them, i dunno, some guys have hang-ups regarding this.
goodluck!

You said it all you have put up with it, You get the best treatment before marriage, what does that tell you...He is not committed to you..tell him to put up or shut up...why do you want to be with someone that does not care for you like you want to be...I have a niece going thru the same thing, bf does her the same way comes when he wants, but does not committ..You have already wasted too many years already.....

Im in your shoes right now. Its time to cut the strings, let him go. I love my man too, and yes, I want to be with him, but I deserve to be treated better. If you can't stand up for yourself and love yourself and respect yourself then how can you expect them to love and respect us? Cuz obviously the guy is sending you signals he ain't into you anymore. I know. I'm dealing with the same thing. Its time to let go. But you already know what you should do, you just gotta be strong enough to do it.

i'm in a similar situation, i think guys like this are selfish and really don't value us the way we value them. i know i should break up with my guy too, but i'm sure u know, it's a hard thing to do. it's an unhealthy relationship and i'm sure you don't want to break up with him, but if i were you, i would just look around for other guys, you might find someone who you CAN rely on and leave this guy.
