5 Minute Tomato Sauce
The trick to this sauce is simply to use the best ingredients possible. Makes 1 1/2 Cups
1 Can Imported Diced Italian Tomatoes
3 Tablespoons Finely Chopped Onions (Optional)
2 Cloves Garlic, Finely Minced
2 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Salt & Pepper To Taste
3 Tablespoons Finely Chopped Basil
Dash Of Red Pepper Flakes (Optional)
Dash Oregano (Optional)
Heat the oil in a heavy saucepan over medium heat, and add the onion. Cook for a minute or two, and then add the garlic. As soon as the garlic begins to sizzle, but before it takes on color, add the tomatoes. Turn the heat to high, and as soon as the sauce begins to bubble, turn back down to medium.
Season with salt and pepper, oregano red pepper flakes if you are using them, and add the basil. Cook for another minute of two and remove from the heat.

i'm referencing sauce mix enough for 1 lb. or 400 gm of pasta. heat ground beef in its juices on medium-low fire seasoning with salt and pepper, butter/margarine/olive oil are options. it will be ready when it oozes a good cooked smell and thence we now turn it into spaghetti sauce by adding your choice of
1) fresh tomatos finely chopped (minced if possible but the juices must still be there) but stirring must be kept constant so nothing every sticks to the pan
(from
2) or diluted tomato paste
3) or not so diluted tomato sauce
4) or instant pasta sauces (less stirring required with 2 to 4 slightly raise the fire but still ensure no sticking to the pan - about 20 minutes will do)
then it's done. additional options are using cream (for a creamy taste) and spices like basil. serve - with black pepper handy when desired

Brown 1 lb. of lean ground beef in a large saucepan or 1 & 1/2 lbs. Italian sausage(I suggest the medium or hot) Drain meat.
Chop up 1 medium onion and 2-3 cloves fresh garlic.(substitute 1 tsp. prepared garlic if you wish)
Add it to the hamburger and cook for a short time.
Take one 796ml can or 900ml bottle of your favourite spaghetti sauce and add it to the mix.
Add the following; one teaspoon of black pepper, 1 cup of tomato juice, 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper(optional), and 1 can sliced mushrooms.(optional)
Let whole mixture simmer on low heat for 1-2 hours, stirring often. As the sauce loses moisture from simmering, add one 796ml can of diced tomatoes 15 minutes before serving.
Enjoy!
If you make a lot of this by doubling the mix, then if you wish, add a can of red kidney beans and chili powder to leftover sauce and Voila! You have a tasty Chili Con Carne!

Basic Red Sauce:
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 cups chopped yellow onions (1 medium yellow onion)
1 teaspoon minced garlic (2 cloves garlic)
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 (28-ounce) cans whole peeled tomatoes
2 (15-ounce) cans tomato sauce
3 tablespoons tomato paste
2 cups water
1 teaspoon sugar
Heat the olive oil in a 5-quart pot over medium heat. Add the onions, garlic, salt, basil, oregano and black pepper, and cook, stirring, until soft, about 5 minutes. Place the tomatoes in a large bowl and squeeze to break into small pieces. Add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, and sugar to the pot with the onions, and stir well. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Lower the heat to medium-low, and simmer uncovered for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally with a long-handled wooden spoon.
Remove from the heat, and use as needed. You can store this sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze it for up to 3 months.

when i make my moms receipe its alot.
1big can of tomato puree
2 cans of tomato paste (i usually buy 4 cans but you don't have too) I like my sauce thick.
i throw in some parsley, oregano, basil, italian seasoning, salt
you can put green peppers, mushrooms in it and garlic of course ground beef in it if you want.put as much seasoning in it to your taste.
if you like it thick just a little water. or if you like thin. put alittle at a time til you get it where you want it. and let it cook for a couple of hours. I had no complaints on it.
