I lost 35 pounds in about 4 months.. working out, cutting calories and changing routines when I would hit a plateau... which i think is now because I have been at the same weight for like a month.. 10 pounds to go.. Good luck and just stick with it. Make working out fun by telling yourself how great a habit you are making by being healthy. It works for me.. I couldn't imagine not working out.

30 lbs a week for 3 months isn't impossible at all. What will be a challenge is maintaining the steady loss every week - sometimes the body just doesn't lose weight at a linear pace. So don't get discouraged if you seem to 'plateau' for a bit.

What worked for me for a similar amount of weight loss recently was cycling for about an hour and a half every other day (cycling was more interesting for me than a treadmill or similar) and to go on 'Phase 1' of the South Beach Diet, which essentially means you cut out all refined sugar, and all simple carbs like white bread, white rice, potatoes, pasta and cereals, and replace with beans, nuts, tofu, low-fat mozarella cheese, red meat, vegetables and drink plenty of water. I didn't even really watch portions as much as cut out the foods that weren't on the list. The book goes into a good explanation why sugars and simple carbs (which quickly break down into sugars) make it so hard for the body to metabolize fat, but all I can say is it really works and pretty quickly - best part is no "miracle pills" and the like - just healthy eating and exercise.

I know several people who have also reached their goals with this combo - and you will too. Best to you.

I'd question your goal weight, as it's borderline underweight. At 5'7", you would look rather skinny with even more weight than 120 lbs. I'd suggest shooting for 125-130 lbs and then see how you feel & look. If you get too underweight, you'll find yourself at an increased risk for osteoporosis in later years along with fatigue and reduced immune function.

As far as how to lose weight, the formula, regardless of the diet scheme, remains the same:

Calories in - Calories used = weight gain/loss

As long as you're burning more than you're putting into your body, you will lose weight.

Notes from my past:

*Lose weight _slowly_. It is possible to lose weight quickly, but it'll only be temporary, and many people then end up gaining back more weight than before they had before the diet. Shoot for 1-2 lbs/week at most, BUT, take it as an average.

*There WILL be weeks where you probably will gain a lb or two. Don't be discouraged by it. Again, look at the averages. Also,

*DON'T weigh yourself often. I know this sounds counter-intuitive, but again, from experience, you're better off weighing yourself once a week (or less often) than every day. Again, averages are what matters most.

*DON'T over-exercise. Muscle weighs more than fat, thus over-exercising will make you thinner, but will cause the scale to say otherwise. Also, vary your exercise routine. I had a friend who was addicted to the stairmaster for a few months until she saw how much larger it made her posterior from the additional muscle mass.

*Don't starve yourself. Heavy restriction of food will cause your body to think it's going through a time of famine, and it'll shift gears to store as many calories it can.

*Have healthy foods and snacks available and try eating multiple, but smaller meals throughout the day. Hunger is the #1 diet killer. If you're eating small bits throughout the day, you won't feel hungry and won't have as much difficulty sticking to your diet.

*Drink plenty of fluids, preferably water. Coffee/soda/alcohol have calories in them. Thus, switching to water instead of other drinks will have a dramatic effect on your diet. A single can of Coke has ~140-180 calories in it. 3 cokes = nearly 3 McDonald's Cheeseburgers worth of calories. Additionally, constantly drinking water keeps the stomach feeling fuller, and your hunger sensations will be reduced.

*Remember, there are no "good" nor "bad" foods. The key to a successful diet is moderation. Denying yourself favorite foods is just going to make you miserable and increases your chances of breaking the diet.

Good luck with it and don't get caught up in the hype of the various diets out there. Despite whatever fad de jeur, the body still works the same way it has for the past 3,000 years.

If you want to lose weight safely and effectively, I outline the some general tips.

1. Exercise (resistance training): Lifting weights can add muscle to your body. Your metabolism is highly correlated with how much muscles that you have. Your muscle is where fat is being burned.

Basically, the more muscles that you have, the higher your metabolism, the more calories that you can burn even when you are sleeping. That is why 255-pound bodybuilder can eat more than 5,000 calories a day because of the amount of muscles that they have. They need to eat a lot just to maintain their muscle.

Here are some exercises that will give you the best bang for your time.

Squat, Dead lift, lunges, Military press, Push-up, Bench Press, Lat Pull Down, Pull-up, Row, etc. Focus in multi-joint movement to involve more muscles.

2. Aerobic training: One way to boost your metabolism so that you are burning more calories is through interval training. Interval training consists of alternating between high intensity and low intensity training. For example, jog for 2 minutes to 30-second sprint. Repeat for 20 minutes.

Interval training is much more effective that steady state cardio e.i. 30 minutes running with the same speed. Interval training allows you to burn more calories while reducing your time.

3. Supportive Eating: Eating smaller meals through out the day can help boost your metabolism. Eating smaller meals every 3 hours helps fuel your body. Think about it for a second. I am sure that you know someone who eats all the time and yet are lean and you probably know someone who eats very little and yet the person is fat.

What should you eat? In every meal, you should attempt to eat lean protein, starchy carbs, and fibrous carbs.

Lean protein such as chicken, white eggs, turkey, soy, lean meat, fish, tuna, salmon, etc.
Starchy carbs such as oatmeal, brown rice, red potatoes, yams, etc.
Fibrous carbs such as fruits and vegetables.

These tips alone can help you a lot of you follow my guidelines. Remember, losing weight too fast will not be a permanent weight loss. Take your time and commit to eating better and exercising and you will eventually lose that weight.

Quick tips: Limit your sugar, saturated fat, and hydrogenated fat. Drink plenty of water.

Good luck

Well you have to eat something from everything to keep ur body balance or else after you stop whatever you will touch will end into body fat since ur body have lost track of it completly.

I found best the calorie diet it worked perfectly for me! i used to have 3 spoons special K in the morning, after that an Apple or an orange, For Lunch a big salad with some light tuna, or feta cheese, or do a nice brown bread sandwich with Ham.

For dinner, You can have for example 200grms Of (Chicken, Beef, Pork, Fish,) With boiled veggies or salad and add lots of herbs, spices and a cube to give it some nice taste!

For Pasta you can used any type of pasta! If ur taking it with just some tomatoe sauce and herbs you can add till 200grms, And if you would like to used some meat with it such as Chicken Mince or Beef mince go for 100grms pasta and 75grms Mince with tomatoe sauce.

Then every day you can have a treat which consist of A cereal bar, or a light yogurth with a dessertspoon of raisens, or a pkt of snack a jack, or a glass of wine.

During the day above all of this you should try to drink 1 ltr of water since all we now it's very important! And you can have up to 6 tea's or coffee's with skimmed milk and sweetners (never use normal sugar since it's full with calories same goes for full milk) And diet soft drink (remeber they also have calories even do little) i used to take a ltr a day.
About herbs, spiced, cubes, worwicher sauce, soy sauce the more you use the better since they help alot.

Ps: If atleast 2 times daily you exchange ur dinner with a soup made with a kilo of mixed veg of ur choice and add a cube and 2 slices bacon or else a can of baked beans. this will help you to lose fat faster!

With this diet i was 101.4 kilos after 4 months present day am weighing 73 kilos ;)

Try it if you do it as i wrote you, you will see a difference in youre scale from the first week! Believe me :)

Goodluck my dear!

You have to figure out if you are a carb. gainer or a calorie gainer. There is a huge difference in what changes to your diet you have to make depending on which one. Definitely don't put yourself through diet pills. But like what was said above, you would be under-weight if you lost 30 lbs. Cardio is good, but you should also try to do a little bit of weight training to tighten your muscles. You might not loose weight, but you would gain muscle and loose fat. Changing your lifestyle to include cardio and eating right is definitely the way to go.
Good Luck!

Now not an knowledgeable on weight-reduction plan but if that you may determine the meals that you will consume as you love them...You are almost there. Are attempting fruits or veggies if that you can take care of them. Don't forget that you simply dont have to simplest eat right...That you may cheat slightly to your consumption in case you are willing to burn more calories rather. The backside line is that you will have to alternate your lifestyle if you want to trade your lifestyles! Dont get radical...Little by little you can get there. Just right success.

If you want to do this it is for life so you need to totally change your way of eating and exercising. This is not a diet rather than a healthy eating plan for life. So no more talking diet cause it means time limit & blow outs.

Here are the golden rules:
Be prepared only have good food in the house
Initially cut down to 1200 (women) - 1500 (men) calories.
Exercise 6 times per week for 1 hours a day. Do three weight sessions and three cardio sessions.
Don't eat carbs after 4pm, never eat carbs within 2 hours of exercise or within 1 hour of exercise.
Drink 3 litres of water per day. You can have a green tea at the end of the day.
Limit your fruit in take to 2 pieces per day.
Never eat dinner after 6pm.
Adopt of low GI eating plan this is sustainable for life!
Make low fat dairy choices

Follow this menu plan as a suggestion:
Breakfast 7am - 1 cup hot water w lemon
20 minutes later have a bowel of oats w water (no honey) OR
fruit salad w low GI soy yogurt OR
Banana smoothie - homemade lots of ice, banana, low GI low fat yoghurt & scoop protein this makes two servings so put the other serve in fridge for tomorrow morning.
Snack 10am - pear or apple (both low GI)
Lunch 12.30pm - muligrain sandwich w 50g tuna & salad (no butter)
Snack 3pm - low GI yogurt
Dinner 5.30pm - 120g grilled lean meat/fish/prawns/tofu patties (not fried) w spinach salad & mixed vegies (no whites, carbs) OR 3 egg white omlette with ham, cheese and tomato
Snack - 1 scoop of low cal low fat ice cream (if hungry)

Exercise is must be intense. Refer to www.bodybuilding.com for your weights routine. Never do weights two consecutive days have a cardio day in between.

Cardio needs to include running, go hard up stair wells and cycling. If you have access to a gym include boxing and spin classes as well. You get the most benefits from exercise when your body is totally fatigued and this is when you see changes.

To maintain you can increase calories to 1500 (women) - 1800 (men) and reduce exercise sessions to 3-4 times per week. If weight creeps up again due to holiday period etc.. go back to 1200 (women) - 1500 (men) cal and 6 sessions again.

Good luck it worked for me it can work for anyone.
