1. "It's against the bible." Not everyone in this country believes in the bible. Wasn't this argument also used to denounce women's suffrage? This also pertains to any religious argument used.

2. "They cannot conceive." With that logic infertile or elderly couples should not be able to get married either.

3. "It will lead to animal-man marriages." Right....because a dog has legal standing in court to sign a marriage certificate. I'm not even going to touch that one.

4. "It will lead to pedophilic marriages." Gay marriage is between two consenting ADULTS. And don't make me mention Catholic priests on this one.

5. "The thought of two gays marrying is sickening to me." And the thought of two idiots reproducing is sickening to me, but you don't see me trying to make a legal issue out it.

6. "It's unnatural." You're on a computer....that didn't grow on a tree, genius.

Have I missed any arguments?

7. "Gay parents will raised gay children." Of course, because straight parents only raise straight children.

8. "Children need a mother and father." Then outlaw single parenting.

Thanks!

And onewhosubmits: I'd be happy to explain to my children about homosexuals, bisexuals, transgenders, religious bigots, different belief systems and religions. I intend to never hide anything from my children and to give them information as unbiased as I can.

I think you got them all, yet look at the answers and these people completely ignore #1 and use that as their reason again.

"don't you care about children of future generations and how will we explain the 2 homosexuals kissing?" Give children more credit than that. Besides how do you answer them about seeing a man and a woman kissing? You would answer them the same, they love each other.

I guess their minds are closed and made up so nothing will ever change their minds. I hope someday the next generations will look at their books and read about this argument as petty. In much the same way we look back at woman's suffrage and the witch trials of Salem and ....

Before you ask why gays should not have marriage, why don't you ask yourself why they should?

Marriage was instituted for children and the creation of a family. That was the reason it was formed and there is really no other reason why two people would want or need to join together in marriage. Situations where a child has only a mother or a father should always be avoided. People should not marry if they will not have children (even more so if a mother or a father is missing). Single people must, likewise, avoid having cildren.

If a child is forced into these situations, we must do all we can to support the parent(s). However, it should always be avoided if at all possible. The life of a child under those circumstances is significantly harder. They are not going to immediatley die or anything, but life will be hard.

Gay couples who wish to get married should really think about their reasons for doing so. Why are they intruding upon a sacrament that was disigned for a purpose they will not carry out? If they do not wish to adopt for reasons such as the ones I listed, then what is left? People speak of all these benefits to marriage. What they don't realize is that family is the only real fruit of marriage. As a citizen, married people gain no new rights, and even loose some. As a single person your property is entierly your own and may go to whomever you wish, but when married your property is shared and will go immediatly to your spouse when you die. There are also no restrictions about visiting your companion in the hospital. You don't have to be married to do that, I know. I'll possibly need to check with the lawyers I know to get the full picture on this, but you get the idea.

Many people also turn to all the failed marriages around the world as reasons for allowing gay marriage. However, who have you heard supporting those abusive and twisted families? Those people have no idea what marriage truley means, and allowing gay marriage would simply make the lines more blurred.

It is said that marriage cannot be outlawed because it is unconstitutional. What they don't mention is that the court ruling to allow gay marriage was also unconstitutional. They had to do it behind peoples backs and ignored the separation of government branches.

I hope I don't seem mean, but I just don't see any meaningful purpose for allowing it. I'll wait to see what other people post, though. My argument is sure to face some good counter points. I didn't exactly cover everything. In the meantime, check out the link below. It has some good and thoughtful points in it.

Personally the thought of two males having sex with each other is a sickening thought, so I just don't think about it. People, get your minds, your religion and your government out of the bedrooms of others, before somebody thinks you’re a pervert.

Oh, the family one. Apparently, a child has to have two people with different "organs" raising them. Never really understood the logic behind that one...

Oh, and the history one. Ancient Greece, gay marriage, yeah. People need to look stuff up..

#2 the world is overpopulated. could be a good thing

Oh man they are going to bring up #1 again and again! Like I care about their dogma. The Dude is right, you may not introduce rational thinking into these people.

Hey there blue painted one, that guy you quoted argues with sarcasm so don't pop a vessel over his answers.

oh and to bring up another faulty argument, sterile people would not be allowed to marry as well.

Well, first of all which country are you talking about, there are many represented here. And as far as gay marriage is concerened, leave them be. They are people too. I ever fall in love with someone, who knows it might be another girl and if it is I'd like to have the same rights as other people.

Looks like you got them all. I think gays should be allowed to marry; they have the right to be as miserable as the rest of us.
Anyone notice the ones really pushing the marriage issue are women? Geez... even gay women push for committment.

"children need both a male and female influence'. Although, shouldn't single parenting be outlawed then?

Good points, for the most part, but this is a rant, not a question...

(I've never even heard of points 3, 4, and 5.)
