I also have noticed a variation of flavor over the years, as they have toyed with the formulas and marketing. I suspect 2 variables. First, Coke is bottled locally, to be most efficient and is subject to the flavor of the local water supply. You will notice this if you travel, especially if you have a sensitive sense of taste. This is why you can still purchase Mexican imported bottled Coke, in refilled "vintage" bottles at the Mexican grocery in the states. It simply tastes like the Coke you can get in Mexico City. Second, I suspect that Coke will alter their syrup slightly depending on the price of cane sugar. It's speculation, but perhaps they use beet sugar when the commodities (cane sugar) are too high to reach the profit goal. Or do they slide a little inverse sugar in there for a consistent product.? Only Coke knows for sure....

What's the water like where they bottle it? With all the rain, storms, tornadoes, flooding, and chlorine variants, there might be a change in the taste.
I am a Coca Cola addict, and like you, I KNOW when that beautiful throat elixir has a different taste.
I bet if you write the company with your complaint, they'll send you coupons for some free stuff.
Here's an important question to ask yourself. Does anything else you drink regularly taste different? If yes, are they bottled in the same area? This might give you a hint as to what is going on.

alot of gum and soda companies have been switching there ingredients to artificial sweeteners instead of sugar because it's cheaper. coke zero is bitter because it has no calories because all of the artificial stuff they put in it. for "classic" coke, they probably dont use normal sugar - check the label for things like "asulfame" "aspartame" and "sucralose" (those are artificial sweeteners) and "fructose/fructose corn syrup this is a natural sweetener that is made from the sweet part of corn (i think its in the core of the corn cob) hope that helps!

maybe its because you went to a restaurant and in the soda fountain some one accidentally put the "Diet Coke" syrup in the "Classic Coke".
