Satan knows his end will be the lake of fire. He desires to take as many unwitting people with him as he can. That is why he is the father of lies and leads people away from the cross of Christ any way he knows how.

Their not fighting. Satan serves Gods purpose then is locked up for 1000 years in Abys. After 1000 years Satan let loose and decieve those nations doomed for destruction. Not to many people read Bible around hear.

The devil was created an angel but he became jealous of God. Satan challeged in the Garden of Eden God's right to rule. God has allowed man to rule themselves to show his way is better. And when the time comes, he will do away with Satan.

Your soul, The devil got thrown out of heaven he wanted to be like God. He knows hes going to hell, and wants to take as many people with him that he can.
A pretty easy task for him, as he really doesn't have to worry about getting a soul there already in the bag so to say until you start thinking about where your going to spend eternity and repenting of your sins and believing that Christ died on the cross for those sins and asking him to come in your heart. That's when his work really starts trying to keep you from making that decision.

Just imagine you just made a beautiful cake for yourself. Now, one of your neighbors wants to eat it!!! so he takes his finger and swipes some icing and a bit of cake! you kick his @ss and throw him out. Now he is upset and bothering the other neighbors and their cats. so you send your son to go and kick his @ss! as you add some extra icing and the cake is good again!
