When the world is rid of both religious and anti-religious fanatics, there won't be a need for a God Tax
It is a fool that assumes that problems are the result of "religion", when it is more with the heart of mankind, as it is proven equally more dangerous to religion and peace than that of religious retaliation or simple motivation. All you have to do is look into the history of those governments and individuals that sought to rid the world of religions, and you find "en masse", the horrific crimes against humanity, justified in the name of socialized moral cleansing.
In fact, it is the ones that use "religion" as the scapegoat for tyrannical acts, that are the problem, and typically not the religions in of themselves. Only ignorance and stereotyping justify the blame on all religions, as if they are all one and the same. It really is bigotry of the worst kind.
I will go one further, and assume that the poster of the question is assuming that some unpopular in favor, but popular in news political leaders are thrusting theology upon others, when in fact it is not true. Democracy and Theology are not necessarily one and the same; and just because someone who believes in theology is acting toward democracy, it does not mean that theology is being forced upon anyone anymore than if the person who believes FORD makes better cars, is forcing democracy to accept FORD cars. Only an idiot would assume so ... especially when the leader is acting legally within the scope of the law and the constitution, in which no other representative has formally attempted prosecution.
So, if the country does impose a "god tax", then we will find that we are in a communist country, and there will be no freedoms for anyone except the politicians. And what stops communists from starting wars? Nothing.
So religion is not the problem as most assume. I say there should be a tax on the ignorant. That would be better for everyone.

It is clear that you do not have a relationship with God and it has made you a bitter person. Maybe you should try going to church, tax-free for a limited time only:) God loves you and He is waiting to give you the peace that comes from knowing Him. Seek Him and be transformed.

Good idea. But what if your church doesn't hand out wine or start the wars?

well, i'd be happy if those mega churches that rake in millions and millions of dollars a year were made to pay their fair share of taxes. no other multi million dollar business gets away with not paying taxes ... except of course Big Oil.
