My husband and I will be in our early 20's when we start our church. We are both very spiritually mature and he has been called by God.....With God he can reach every age and is ready to.

When I said my husband and I are spiritually mature I did not mean to boast or brag.....we are just spiritually mature for our age and by starting this church we know God will mature us more.

I am a Pagan and so I wouldn't go to a christian church if you paid me in gold bars. However, I do feel that the christian church needs young blood like yours and your husband's, if it is going to survive the next 100 years.
My in-laws are devout christians and they are always remarking on how empty the church is getting these days. Islam and Paganism are the fastest growing religions on the planet. One of the reasons for this is because we (Pagans) are not holding onto the same old stories that were told 2,000 years ago. People don't want to be sat in a freezing cold musty old building, told a story that they have heard a thousand times before about a dead nazareean carpenter, told that their sins will condemn them to hell and then be charged for it by being handed a collection plate for the privilage.
When you start your church, try to make it more appealing to younger people, but don't exclude older generations either. It's going to be difficult and I wish you luck.
Blessed Be!
Marcus.

The youth pastor and his wife in our church are both in their early 20's and they are absolutely amazing. The energy that they put into things is phenomenal (they just had a 12 hour sleepover at church on New Years Eve!) and everything they do is excellent. They are also training up some of the young people within the youth group to be involved in leadership in another outreach youth group in another part of the town and the results are fantastic.

So yes I wouldn't have a problem with it. I've seen some 20 year olds with wisdom beyond their years because they are grounded in God and have seen 50 year olds behaving like kids as well!! ;-)

The only advice I would give you is to make sure you get connected with a couple who have had some experience in running a church just so that you can learn from their mistakes and also so you can be accountable to someone. Just choose wisely!!

Whatever you do stay close to God and to each other and don't let religion set in - it will kill the church before it's started. Keep it relevant, contemporary and exciting.

If you know that's what God has called you to do then go for it and I pray that God will pour out his blessing in abundance on you both and on your church. x

For starters, you've already boasted that you're spiritually mature. Ask yourself this question: should pastors and their wives assume that they're perfect for pastoral care because they're 'spiritually mature' or should they realise that actually, nobody is spiritually mature and it is a journey, something that Christ is teaching you the whole way. Can you say you're perfect in Gods' eyes??

I would go to see what is being preached. I have had very bad experiences with churches. People looking down on me for not having nice clothes and living in the wrong area and on and on and on. As long as The Gospel is being preached I would continue to go. Just make sure that the church isn't based on "appearances" and don't tolerate any gossip or disrespect and your church will flourish. Blessings to you and your husband for embrassing this. It is a very difficult life and I will be praying for you both.

In my oppinion physical age should not be a determining factor in whether or not you attend a church. Spiritual maturity is what really counts. You will know in your spirit if that church is right for you. God has His reasons why he places each of us in the church bodies He places us in.

I would listen to a man or woman who were 20 years old speak of their faith, and extol their belief.

But

I would want a person who has studied the faith he preaches, the faith of others before I would want to him/her to minister to me.

How can you heal wounds if you never learned the lessons of the ages and only offer memorized scriptures, and can only cough up a quote for all occasions but not be able to empathize.

Having said that, one of the most inspiring sermons I ever heard came from a 13 year old boy who spoke of the wisdom of elders and believability of gospels....he rejected the idea he was a pastor, but just a devoted follower.

Age has its perks!

too young. I prefer a pastor that can apply some of the preaching to real life. Maybe at least 55. Also a pastor who beleived in one thing and time helped him or her to change it for the better.

if the holy spirit led me to yes. I assume your husband and you , known about being led by the Holy spirit . If he does this he will be given knowledge and wisdom beyond his years . Or led to one of his superiors or a member of his congregation . Or someone he wants to use and encourage , but remember Jesus did not promise to give you an easy life or to make you rich . He did say if you follow me the world will hate you . In the meantime I pray that our father God will bless you and yours . In the name of Jesus Christ . I ask this . It is so .

Yes. I'd give it a whirl. One of my heroes in the faith is Charles Spurgeon & he started preaching at 17. He is known as the prince of preachers.

And as Paul told Timothy, "Let no one despise you for your youth" (1 Timothy 4:12).
