After just answering your second question first I would say definately yes. Not only for the knowledge you would gain and the reasons why certain books were written and the historical context of the bible but also for the validity of what you are doing.
Yes it is great that you feel God has called you to do this but you can't rely on that alone. If I felt that God was calling me to go to Africa, I would be absolutely stupid not to prepare myself first before I went, to learn the language, the culture so that when God's timing was absolutely right I would be ready to go when He says.
It does concern me a bit though that you're having a disagreement at this early stage about what foundations you're going to build this church on. If you can't even agree on whether or not you need more than one book apart from the Bible than you might find it more difficult than you think.

In almost all mainline churches you have to go to college and then on to Seminary. In the Episcopal Church you must also undergo some Psychological testing and a number of interviews and be sponsored by at least 3 people and found to be of good moral character. I thinks most of the mainline churches do the same. Some storefront type churches do not. Personally I don't think much of the blind leading the blind. No wonder that there are so many on this forum that have such distorted ideas about Christianity and yet call themselves Christian.
A Pastor is first a teacher. Only a fool teaches what he does not know. And God holds the teachers of religion to a higher standard that the rest of his children. If you teach wrong and lead others astray, I ask you how is that much different that the work of the devil? Tell you husband to go to college and to a proper seminary. Also Pastors often are called upon to do counseling. You can not do that with out proper training or you will do serious harm to someone. If your husband does not want to be responsible for someones suicide, tell him to go to school!!

What you have to do is be called by the Lord Jesus to be a Pastor. Then if the Lord leads you to go to a bible college, etc.; then you need to go to college. Many Pastors go to college after being called. Some become Pastors are put into place/ Church without college training. And some Pastors go to college & pastor a Church, and the Lord never called that person to be a Pastor.

Quite simply - to go to McDonalds does not mean that you are a burger!! Too many verses in the Bible states that "the shepherds" are not placed by God or have turned from God because they like the lights ie stardom.
Make sure your motive is right as God will cover the motive.
You do need basic understanding of the Bible and this is not just being able to quote Scriptures.
I have experience in ministry and if you need any help feel free to contact me.

Well it depends on what church. I have a brother who did not go to college and he became a pastor of a charismatic church called The Church of All Nations. Gereja Segala Bangsa.
But most denominations nowadays will require their pastors to study properly and get a degree in Theology or Ministry courses.

I don't think so.... However you could do certain A'level like Religious Studies etc.
But I think most pastor's 'work they way up', and go to evening classes on bible studies. Many use the knowledge of what God has told them, through speaking to them and leading them to situations, and showing them things to communicate to the church....
I ain't all that religious so don't take what I've said as gospel (no pun intended), but I think that's how it works...

The call of God on your life is the most important aspect of becoming a pastor. That said, I think going to Seminary can't hurt...but, could be very beneficial.

Not really, you could be a Jesse Jackson type pastor.
You just claim you are one and you are one.
However, if you want to be a real pastor going to college is a good thing.
