In documenting the Inquisitions, who has a conflict of interest: Catholic historians or secular historians?

I say "secular historians" because my college medieval European history professor was an atheist. And his opinion, along with our textbooks and verifiable evidence, seems to be at odds with the opinion of Catholic historians.

well since the catholics were in charge of the inquisitions of course their documentation is a conflict of interest
