A straightener is a perm with out the rollers. I used one after my perm went straight on one side because my mom who usually gave great perms, took mine out too early so I get the straightener, and my hair was so flat and would not hold a curl from the curling iron. So unless you look good in STRAIGHT flat hair don't do it. Or go and have your hair professionally treated for the look you want.

Perms are really bad for your hair....don't re-perm....i would let your hair grow out all the way and straighten it form time to time...but not on a high heat because that is very damaging!

I stand by the rule of only processing my hair one way at a time. If I color or highlight it, I don't do anything else. If I wear it natural, I'm sure it would survive a chemical perm or straightening. Be careful though, you could change your mind and be stuck with the look until it grows out.

Depends on your hair...I had a perm last year that I tried to straighten w/a straightener & it totally damaged it. I had to constantly condition it & flat iron just to manage it. I finally cut my hair really short this past summer to get rid of all the damaged pieces. Go to a salon & get suggestions. I did but decided to do it on my own...BIG MISTAKE! Good luck!

both straightening and perming damages ur hair, as they both alter the structure of the hair strand (protein bonds). for both, u can use protein treatments and styling aid to limit damage on a day-to-day basis. u can ask for more advice from a professional.

if you use it daily then eventually it will soon become fried with lots of split ends. i think it would be better to re perm. or just deal until the perm grows out.

It depends on if you like it straight or curly better. If you straighten it you should use the hair stuff that protetcs it from heat, but I'm out right now, so I don't know what it is called, but ya, try to use some anti-heat stuff

If you mean buying a straightener and doing it your self, that should be fine. Other then that, (like said earlier) talk to your usual stylist (or even a friend or family member) to see what they think.

yes really bad just buy a good straighting iron actually all straighting iron work the same don't spend more than 30 dollars on one once you get the hang of using it you will get really good results it's way better than chemically damaging your hair don't do it i think you will regret it.
