Now I get a message saying I'm running on selective mode. (in order to go back to normal mode, I have to click on "normal mode" and that means I have to load all programs shown at the startup tab. And, I don't wanna do that)

I looked online and someone said you can just tell that above message never to pop up again, so from now on I'll always start up my computer in selective mode. He said it wouldn't harm your machine. Is that true?

Also, I read you can also use Regcleaner.

What should I do?
Thanx in advance!

All right, I myself have done the msconfig Hotfix and as long as you disabled stuff which wasn't essential, you're fine. When that message pops up on start-up, there should be a checkbox which basically says NEVER POP UP AGAIN!!! It is annoying box, isn't it???
It is fine to run in a selective mode, not harmful, but if you disabled something essential, better reenable it. If you want to know more about the programs running on start-up, get Spy-Bot search and Destroy follow the directions and click around and switch to advanced mode, go to tools, and start-up. It helps...
Regcleaner might edit start-up but msconfig and spybot are both SAFE.
Tweaknow registry cleaner is a free, fast program and you should run a scan and delete erroneus SAFE errors, it will be very clear which one's are safe, It speeds up your computer and since you are editing your boot-up, it is obvious you're trying to speed up something.
Hope it helps!!!

He's right
All Selective mode means
is that you have selected which programs you want to start-up
Make sure though that you leave things like your printer, modem, etc.. checked or you will run into problems trying to use them

When it pops up it should say dont show message again, just choose that message. If you have any problems just go back to run and type in msconfig and change your options again.

I think you are much better off doing what you did than messing with the registry. Make sure to check that box so that the message doesn't keep popping up on you.

It wont hurt when you shut down and start in normal start mode after a reconfigure.I dont know what you were trying to do.So all i can say is if you did a misconfigure,go and start on normal mode. You dont have to reload.
