I just put big fluffy pillows in my shams, so they make the bed look fluffy. My sleeping pillows are flat, but that's how I like them.

A gift certificate to their favorite restaurant is always a nice idea. Beyond that, it's hard to suggest ideas, since it all depends on their interests etc. Things to display in a home can be risky, since it puts them in a tough position if they don't happen to like it, but feel forced to display it. Another good "daughter" idea is a gift basket. If they like coffee or tea, get some primo coffee/tea and unique mugs. Then anything else that you know they'd like. If they like movies, maybe a blockbuster gift card, some popcorn and those $1 boxes of candy they sell at Walmart. Or if they like to read, you can toss in a gift card to Borders. If they enjoy cooking or trying new recipes, you can get awesome cookbooks at places like Ross and TJ Maax. If they grill, get a grill set and some marinades at a place like Trader Joe's. The important thing is that the gift reflect your knowledge of them and their tastes. It's so flattering when people do this, because it shows some thought.

1 word of wisdom and experience, one set of pillows to sleep on, and two more sets of pillows to stay fluffy and poofy that you just set on the floor when your sleeping and put on the bed when your not.

;)

i have heard putting them out in the fresh air for the day, provided the weather is nice, helps to dry up the moisture in them so that they stay fluffier.
