I inherited two beautiful water color prints that are signed and numbered. I cannot decipher the signatures. How can I find out who they are? Any suggestions are welcome.

Take them , or a photo of them, to a museum, or an art teacher at school, or a local college. If they are signed and numbered they might have been done by an artist at least well off enough to have their work printed, or done it themselves as there must have been at least some demand. How high does the number go and you will have an idea of the total copies of the painting.done.

Watercolor prints? Do you mean prints of watercolors? If they are numbered of course, they are merely prints. The greatest likelyhood is that they are by an unknown or little-known artist. You could try an art appraiser, but then you would have to pay a fee for his research.

Are they framed? Have you looked on the other side of them for any markings?

My family inherited an Asian watercolor and we couldn't decipher the name, but I googled different variations based on what I could make out and eventually I was able to determine who it was. Good luck!

Send a photo or scan to one of the big auction houses . If the artist was fairly well known they would know . I think it would be asking too much of a small commercial gallery.

From whom did you inherit them? Possibly friends or relatives of that person will know where they came from. Are there any galleries near you or them that might be able to tell you.
