I did what one person said and went and got pedalite and my dog can eat some now she's getting stronger i also called the vet the next day and they said that it would cost 300.00 the first night and then probly up to 800.00 more but if i couldn't aford that to keep giveing her pedalite that aslong as she don't dehidrat she'll be ok and so far so good so if your dog gets parvo and you can't aford the vet give them pedalite every hour about a baby medican drop full and for some of you thanks and others grow up and relize that i may not have much money but i don't think that it's fair for a animal to live in a cage praying that they get a home because if not there be killed

If your puppy has parvo the ONLY chance he has is if you take him to a vet and even then he only has a slight chance. There is no way that you can treat parvo on your own without a vet. If you can't afford the vet care he needs take him to the humane society.

Well, what do you expect us to say?
If you can't afford the vet, you can't afford the pet!

And besides that, if you haven't been to the vet, how do you know what your puppy has? What are its symptoms? Does it have its vaccinations? There are many diseases and parasites that can cause various illnesses. There is no way that anyone here can tell what your puppy has or what to do for it. There is NO over-the-counter medication for parvo or any other canine diseases!
If your pup does have parvo, the most life-threatening symptom is dehydration caused from the constant vomiting and profuse diarrhea. The only thing you can do at home is to keep the pup warm and try to give it water; water with sugar or karo syrup in it is even better. And pray. Depending on the age of the pup and its general health, it will recover or it will die, it is impossible to say.
Beg or borrow some money from somebody to take the pup to the vet. Why on earth let it suffer and possibly die? This animal cannot take care of itself. It depends on you 100% to take care of it.
If you can't afford vaccinations or other veterinary care, please do not own animals. It's that simple.

First off, if you haven't been to the vet how do you know that your puppy has Parvo for sure? Parvo can kill your puppy quickly but so can administering drugs for the wrong ailment/disease. Secondly, have you had your puppy vaccinated? My dogs were all vaccinated and I can't imagine not having them checked especially when they were puppies. If you haven't gotten your vaccinations you really need to, some counties require proof of vaccination before your pet can be boarded and i think all of them require your pet to have their rabies shot. My third question and the one that i am sure you have been asked before, If you can not afford the vet then why did you get a pet? Dogs are expensive when younger and some keep medical conditions all the way into adulthood. One of my dogs has cost me several hundred dollars already because of her condition and she is not even 3 years old. If you seriously can not afford to pay for medical care for your pet then i would suggest either you ask to borrow the money for now and set aside a puppy fund in case anything else happens, or else find your puppy a new home. Bring her to the SPCA and explain that you can not afford the vet bills. They will have her fixed up and on her way to a new home quickly. All things considered, I can only seriously urge you to get your puppy to the vet, and if the few dollars for the vaccination is too expensive find another home for your pet. Part of being a responsible owner is to provide for their health, and if you can not afford the base vaccinations then perhaps you need to wait a while before being a pet owner.

Hon, I hate to break it to you, but by the time parvo is noticable in your dog, its already too late. If the pup is young, and is not longer eating or drinking, be prepared to lose this pup. I have had too many pups lost to this deadly disease. Once the vomiting begins, they won't hold anything down, even if you force it down them.
If you take it to the vet, you will have to pay the vet to look at him and they will likely tell you that treatment will be expensive and may or may not save the pup. Treatment for parvo involves days of intravenous fluids and observation at the vet as well as the medication. If you can't bear to stay with the baby till the end, take it to the humane society, they can put it down without it suffering any more.
The most important thing to know is that after the pup is gone, no matter how it happens, DO NOT bring another pup into your house right away!! Parvo is in your house and before you bring in another pup, or dog, you need to thouroughly clean and disinfect any area that the pup has been in - and honestly doing the whole dang house wouldn't hurt either if you plan to try again. Also, if you get another pup, even after disinfecting the house, don't bring the new pup (if there is one) into your house until it has been vaccinated against parvo. Sorry about your puppy, good luck and god speed to your pup.

All i can tell you to do is to not let the dog get dehydrated! When parvo kicks in and they begin to have bloody diarrhea they get dehydrated very very quickly! If the dog is not taking water on his own, try pedialyte. Also go to a pharmacy and ask for a syringe so you can syringe liquids into his mouth. The dog isnt going to feel like eating, so go to a local vet and ask for a can of A/D wet food. Do not over feed the dog, or you will make the diarrhea worse. Just give enough to keep him from starving. The dog will also be very contagious, even if the dog dies, the virus will stay in the carpet and in the yard. DO NOT get another puppy if you lose this one. There is nothing over the counter you can get for this dog. You may want to go to the store and by some karo syrup to keep his blood sugar up. I understand you dont want to be put down for not being able to afford the vet, but this is the problem with society! Having a pet is not being able to afford just food, you have to be prepared for emergencies like this. It wouldve been alot cheaper to get your dog vaccinated for parvo then it wouldve to treat him. Theres no one to blame but yourself.. im sorry for both you and the puppy!

There is no easy answer to this question...parvo is deadly, his only chance is veterinary attention. If you take him to a humane society they will probably but him to sleep I am sorry to say. They just don't have the funding to save every dog and parvo is very serious and costly to treat. But if you keep him and don't take him to the vet he will die anyway. I'm not sure how you know he has parvo if he has not been to the vet but parvo is not a pleasant death. If you do nothing he will suffer and die in great pain. This is a decision only you can make. If you love your friend I think you know what the best decision would be. But are you sure there is no way you can get the money to take him to the vet. There are vets that offer payment plans. But whatever you do you need to do it quickly as your dog not only doesn't have alot of time but also does not deserve to suffer.

IF your dog has Parvo, you are tracking the disease all over because it is on the soles of your shoes. With a vet, you will be lucky if your puppy survives Parvo. If you cannot afford a vet, what are you doing with the puppy? It is expensive to provide the care needed for a pet. They have to have shots and care on a regular basis. If it gets sick, you have to have the $ to care for it properly. It is your responsibility. You better call some vets and beg for treatment. Perhaps you can find one that will allow you to sweep floors or do some menial job to cover the expense of the treatment. It is the least you can do. Or ask local storeowners to work for the price of the vet bill. It will be expensive but the puppy deserves the best chance he can get. By working for a vet you will see all the problems dogs can have and what is needed to keep them in good health. You should learn a lot. LOL

There is no cure for parvo. Giving them a shot now willmake the virus worse, the vaccine does not cure it, it prevents it and pups need 3 before the age of 14 weeks and then again at 1 year.

What the vet does is treat the symptoms and the deydration..
Here are some links for you, and there is a product called Parvaid that DOES work to get them through this. But, most puppies will die even with vet treatment.

Some people have NO idea the costs involved with this virus. My pup was in the hosp for 5 days and it cost me $2065.62....plus what I paid for the puppy, and he still died!

We can all stay here and pass judgments all night, and it won't help this puppy at all!
Let say that this puppy has parvo for sure because of the symptoms he's showing: that's a bad sign, because, usually by the time the symptoms are obvious, it's too late.
If you cannot, and I mean in any way, take this puppy to a vet, you've got to give your best shot at it, and try to save its life.
The usual treatment is plenty of I.V. fluids, and three different kind of antibiotics. What you can do is to give him plain aspirin, if it's a small puppy, a 80 mg. dose every 4 hours will do, if it's a big puppy, then give a 325 mg., as you must get the temperature down. Get a syringe or dropper of some kind, and give the puppy either Pedialite, or a mixture of karo syrup + water. Slowly squirt it down his throat, at least three syringes full once every hour. Nevermind any type of food right now, as it is the least of your concerns for the moment. Make sure you keep it clean. Don't get stressed out over it, as it'll get the puppy more stressed too, and that's what he needs the least right now.
Hang in there, as you'll need to do this non-stop for the next few days.
Chances are that he won't make it, but it could, so don't give up on him.
Please, whatever the outcome will be, from now on, make every effort necessary to not get into a similar situation in the future. Go to your local vet, and open an account, and start deposing money into it, even if only few dollars a month. They will add up for whenever you'll need to get medical care for your pet.
We all, or should I say, most of us, want a pet for companionship etc., and it can fullfill our lives in ways no one else could, but we must have to means to care for their needs too. No animal should suffer because of us humans. Parvo, as in many other diseases, causes a horrible death.
You're all he's got, give it your best shot!!!!!!

Parvo is nothing to mess around with! Quit being so selfish. The longer your dog goes untreated the worse it will be, don't you know that parvo is deadly and contageous! Evey dog that comes across your dogs poo can now get it. That's no fair to all those other owners out in your neighborhood. If you can't afford the treatment or unwilling to take the dog to the vet for proper medical attention, then turn the dog over to the humaine society or put the dog down. Parvo is very expensive and in some cases will not work and the dog ends up dying anyway.

There is basically no chance for a puppy to survive Parvo without a vet. Take your puppy to the vet or a local shelter NOW! Do not try to give the puppy a vaccination now, it will actually make the puppy worse.

You can try giving your puppy Pedalyte (for babies) until you can get it to the vet. It will help a bit with the dehydration, but not enought. The puppy will need IV fluids and supportive care from a veterianrian to have any chance of surviving.
