I usually make mine dry and shaken with Greygoose vodka(and an olive stuffed with bleau cheese crumbles) but I'm having a party soon and some of the people invited prefer Gin. Help! I have never made one with gin before.

When using Gin, always go with the good stuff. Cheap Gin makes a terrible Martini. You've made Vodka Martini's in the past so I'm assuming you have the shaker and strainer. That's a good start. The amount of Gin depends on the size of the Martini glass. Smaller, 1 oz medium, 1 1/2 oz, larger 2 oz. The amount of Vermouth depends on the drink itself. Classic Gin calls for 1/4 oz dry vermouth, wet: 1/2, dry: flavour the glass with vermouth then pour out. Bone dry means you simply acknowledge the vermouth. With the Classic and Wet, garnish with black or green olives. With dry, garnish with a lemon twist. If using Sweet Vermouth, same rules apply but garnish with a cherry.

Cheers.

Martini (original)
1 1/2 ounces gin
1/2 ounce sweet vermouth
1 dash of orange bitters

Stir with ice. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon zest
You can use dry vermouth if that's what you prefer. I prefer Tanqueray Gin.

Despite people calling darned near everything under the sun a martini, there is only one way: two shots gin, one shot dry vermouth, shake to cool, strain into glass, add twist of lemon. Anything else is a wannabe.
