There is with no doubt a purpose, which is to succeed in the eyes of the Almighty god, who is called ALLAH.
This is not an everlasting system, as nothing lasts for ever.

Evolution seems to continue to be a theory, and only just that. The single Christian answer to the point of life, is to live such that we be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ. Here is what His life amounted to (see my continued thoughts below) :
ONE SOLITARY LIFE by Dr James Allan Francis :
Here is a man who was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in another village. He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. Then for three years He was an itinerant preacher.
He never owned a home. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family. He never went to college. He never put His foot inside a big city. He never traveled two hundred miles from the place He was born. He never did one of the things that usually accompany greatness. He had no credentials but Himself...
While still a young man, the tide of popular opinion turned against him. His friends ran away. One of them denied Him. He was turned over to His enemies. He went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed upon a cross between two thieves. While He was dying His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had on earth – His coat. When He was dead, He was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend.
Nineteen long centuries have come and gone, and today He is a centerpiece of the human race and leader of the column of progress.
I am far within the mark when I say that all the armies that ever marched, all the navies that were ever built; all the parliaments that ever sat and all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man upon this earth as powerfully as has that one solitary life.
If I were to believe that all we were to do was to endlessly and forever go through what we have gone through ad infinitum ad nauseum than I'd be as miserable, or even more, then the rest of humanity. However that is not what I know, understand or believe and thank G-d I don't.

Nature is cyclonic and human beings are a part of nature. History allows us to have a common bond in our past, better understand the present in order to prepare for the future, and teaches us how to think. Not just what to think.
This evolution you speak of is happening because the institutions we hold so dear to are beginning to fail. Christianity, the religion of love, spews hate against homosexuals and technology while being lead by Pat Roberson and George W Bush. Islam, the religion of Peace, has people declaring the west the infidel and strapping bombs to their chests with leaders like Osama bin Laden and the prime minister of Iran. Cathlocism has the molestation issues. The Republicans and Democrats are infused in their war for power and have forgotten the people.
History has taught us that when all of our fundamental instituations fail people begin to search for Answers. This explains the rise in Agnostics and Atheism as well as many taking an interest in the Far East beilefs. This is a Good sign. The Renisannce and the Discovery of the New World all took place because of failing cornerstone institutions. If we do not search for an answer we will end up like western Europe at the fall of the Roman Empire.
Great Question!

History never ends because as long there is present and future, history will keep comming. Last minute is history already. The porpuse is obvious for some people but others still don't get why we need to learn from the past. History is what we were and what we did before we got to this point. We learn from the past so we try not to make the same mistakes. Without history we will live like people that have not long term memory. we will try everyday to invent the wheel or discover the fire and you wouldn't be here asking questions on the internet.

Things are always changing evolution takes forever though .
History is a record and it's lesson is it's only possible purpose.
and there is no meaning of life other than to make it right and
enjoy it.Getting off or out of the supposed cycle is hardly a purpose but a desire to escape only. One death is all that is needed ; it is final ...

Everything in this material universe is temporary. Pleasures are temporary; jobs are temporary, plant life is temporary, human life is temporary, even the stars are temporary. If God is a Spirit, and heaven is a spiritual domain, and in heaven we are spirits, then all things in the afterlife are eternal, but everything observable in this world will some day pass away.
