I got my IUD in April of 2006. I haven't had a period since July is this normal??? I'm worried about being pregnant but at the same time I think i would know by now?? I have some pain at times but not really severe and I feel like I look pregnant but no signs of it besides looking like it. I'm pretty slim and my belly just feels full and I've had a couple of family members ask, but I did take a test in Sept and it was negative?? I got mine at the health dept and I don't trust them because it took them 5 trys to get it in and I almost passed out and I don't have insurance so I can't afford a OBGYN. Any advice or help appreciated.

I also have a Mirena IUD. It was put in in March of last year, and I have not had any periods since. My OB/GYN was the one who put it in, and I called their office and asked about the no periods and they said that was pretty much the optimum result. I also took a pregnancy test, just to make sure, and like you, it came back negative.

I am having those occasional cramps and pains like you mentioned, and sometimes I even have a little spotting.

Since Mirena's are supposed to be only for women who have had at least one child, I assume that you had it put in shortly after you had a baby. That is what I did.

My son about a month and a half when mine was put in, and the Dr. said that my cycle never started back up between the baby and the IUD, and it most likely won't start again until after the IUD is taken out.

I think if I were you, I would take another test, just to be reassured. Don't bother with an expensive one, just get one from the dollar store. They're just as accurate as the expensive ones.

I would definitely take another pregnancy test. I would take an EPT test. They are the most accurate. You should call the health dept and ask them is it normal to not have AF. Do you have any children already? If so, how long has it been since you gave birth to your youngest child? I had a baby 10 months ago and my cycles are still all messed up. I plan on getting the Mirena IUD really soon. Good luck!!!!

First of all, I would take another test. September was a while back. Second of all, it's normal not to have a period with the IUD. My sister has been on IUD for 4 yrs and hasn't had a period. I've been on IUD for a year and haven't had a period. That's one of the good things about IUD. You still ovulate (feeling bloated, crampy...stuff like that) but you don't actually bleed.

i'm really disillusioned that my bleeding has lower back. (I were given Mirena 4 months in the past.) I actually have heard/study that some females with undesirable uterine circumstances (fibroids, adenomyosis) seem to expend the progestins in Mirena speedier than others. If my bleeding maintains to worsen, decrease back to my pre-Mirena days, i'd search for to get it replaced early.
