right or left leaning Christian forcing their beliefs on you through the passage of laws?

Rome didn't fall until it became a country ruled by a Christian, with the power to create laws.

This question exposes the hypocrisy of those who pretend that a knock on the door is the same as forced conscription.

A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to "recruit" a householder, or get him to "convert". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!

That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.

(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

I would say the latter! I can always close my door on the Jehovah's Witness. However, the passage of intrusive laws cannot be as easily ignored. It's actually quite interesting that with the passage of the "Do Not Call" registry that Religious and Political natured calls were excluded.

Laws. Soon there will be laws saying all you can do is pay taxes and die.
JW's don't bother me. They have just as much of a right to be what ever they want to be as I do. We need more rights not more laws taking away rights.
What does bother me is people forcing things on to me, like laws saying that I am not human and have no right to be happy.

Why also do people lump gays in with murders? No gay person every took a life just by being gay but a murderer has taken life, sometimes a gay human is the victim.

The latter. You can tell a Jehovah's Witness to beat it and even call the cops on them. You can't change the laws that extremist christians are forcing onto us. If this were extremist muslims forcing them onto us, these laws never would have passed. It's amazing at how many people are simply feeble minded hypocrites.

Anyone who passes laws that inflict their own value and religious systems on someone else is more intrusive than someone simply knocking on my door. I can always tell the person at the door that I'm simply not interested. How do you fight an intrusive law?

I really don't think either is intrusive. Anybody coming to my door to talk to me about anything is going to knock. I don't have a problem with JW's (in fact, they avoid us...) at all.

We live in a society defined by laws. Some I like, some I don't. That's life: sometimes it is tough!

Intrusive to me, is somebody who KNOWS their views are radically different from mine, and deliberately chooses to confront me at my job (in a public service forum) about how stupid they think my beliefs are and how great THEIRS are. I find that more than intrusive: it is cowardly!

I prefer the Jehovah's Witness. In fact, I wish they'd come knock on my door already! I love to talk about religion!
