I'm a Roman Catholic and i hav argued with my priest about this...one thing you habve to understand is during that time sex was to be done in marriage ONLY and having a bunch of kids was the norm. yes times have change but what kind of religion would it be to be always changing and nip some bad stuff out. it wouldnt be a true one. I personally beleive that if you are sexually active you should use ontraceptives no matter what because it's the responsible tihng to do.

Actually the way it was in the old testament, would lead to at least 15 kids in most families with a normal want for sex, because a woman was unclean during her menses and for 7 days after. Shortly after that she would be ready to ovulate just when it was time to have sex again. There is nothing wrong with having 15 kids (except that my husband doesn't want that many). The natural family planning method would work for most families, (thought some irregular people - like me - wouldn't be able to do that) and not break church doctrine. God calls children a blessing and debt a curse. Why do we apply for all the curse we can get and deny any blessing?

Sex outside of marriage is a harmful use of a wonderful gift. No lasting good comes out of it. It makes sense that God would not have wanted people to do that when it only brings harm. Sure we could only live for the moment, but that is what causes us to miss eternity. So, NO, the church does not want anyone to get an STD, an STD is the result of sex outside of a monogamous for life relationship. Why someone would continue putting themselves at risk for them is beyond me. Did you know that more than half of all people will have a STD/STI in their lifetime? Each year 1 in 4 teens get an STD/STI? Half of all sexually active persons will contract an STD/STI by the age of 25?
DID YOU GET THAT 1/2!
Why should the church consider extra-marital sex as an option. If people would just restrain themselves for one complete generation, most of these would be wiped out!

The Catholic church does not forbid contraception.
Where did you hear that? Ever heard of the rythm method.
It's natural and very very safe. It frowns on the practice of ingesting dangerous chemicals like the contraceptive pill or the abortion pill.

Unfortunately yes, they do. I'm what you call a cradle Catholic. That means that I've been Catholic since I was in the womb and still am. I disagree with a lot of the church policies and rules and this is one of them. I'll probably go to hell for doing this, but when my husband and I were first married, I had forgotten to take my birth control pill that day so in the middle of mass I popped my birth control pill. It's a wonder a bolt of lightening didn't zap me.

No they expect them to become detached from sex life. The Catholics don't know why it is a sin to be attached to sex which not for procreation. It is because if one is still attached to the bodily conception of life (thinking they are this body.)Which sex life keeps one on this platform. Then they will take another birth in tehir next life. it is a complicated answer unless you understand karma and reincarnation which the catholic church has hidden those doctrines from you but they have been fourn. go to gospelofthenazirenes. (the original teachings of Christ). Also go to krishnaculture. Read Bhagavad Gita As it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada

No. You can have as many or as few kids as you like, it is just certain forms of contraception that are frowned upon.

You can learn a lot about Catholic teachings by looking up the Catholic Encyclopedia online at NewAdvent.org.
