If you want to do this it is for life so you need to totally change your way of eating and exercising. This is not a diet rather than a healthy eating plan for life. So no more talking diet cause it means time limit & blow outs.
Here are the golden rules:
Be prepared only have good food in the house
Initially cut down to 1200 (women) - 1500 (men) calories.
Exercise 6 times per week for 1 hours a day. Do three weight sessions and three cardio sessions.
Don't eat carbs after 4pm, never eat carbs within 2 hours of exercise or within 1 hour of exercise.
Drink 3 litres of water per day. You can have a green tea at the end of the day.
Limit your fruit in take to 2 pieces per day.
Never eat dinner after 6pm.
Adopt of low GI eating plan this is sustainable for life!
Make low fat dairy choices
Follow this menu plan as a suggestion:
Breakfast 7am - 1 cup hot water w lemon
20 minutes later have a bowel of oats w water (no honey) OR
fruit salad w low GI soy yogurt OR
Banana smoothie - homemade lots of ice, banana, low GI low fat yoghurt & scoop protein this makes two servings so put the other serve in fridge for tomorrow morning.
Snack 10am - pear or apple (both low GI)
Lunch 12.30pm - muligrain sandwich w 50g tuna & salad (no butter)
Snack 3pm - low GI yogurt
Dinner 5.30pm - 120g grilled lean meat/fish/prawns/tofu patties (not fried) w spinach salad & mixed vegies (no whites, carbs) OR 3 egg white omlette with ham, cheese and tomato
Snack - 1 scoop of low cal low fat ice cream (if hungry)
Exercise is must be intense. Refer to www.bodybuilding.com for your weights routine. Never do weights two consecutive days have a cardio day in between.
Cardio needs to include running, go hard up stair wells and cycling. If you have access to a gym include boxing and spin classes as well. You get the most benefits from exercise when your body is totally fatigued and this is when you see changes.
To maintain you can increase calories to 1500 (women) - 1800 (men) and reduce exercise sessions to 3-4 times per week. If weight creeps up again due to holiday period etc.. go back to 1200 (women) - 1500 (men) cal and 6 sessions again.
Good luck it worked for me it can work for anyone.

Believe it or not being active is good, but doesn't always help you control weight. It all depends on the activities you do and how constant you stay with those activities. i have actually found that walking every morning for 30 minutes a day and then jogging in the evenings after dinner for 30 mins a day showed more results than when I went to the gym. I also do stomach crunches with a 10 lb weight on my chest for about 5 mins every night. I watch my portions when I eat. I eat a meat or fish portion of about a cup or 8oz then my sides are usually 4 oz of a vegetable and a starch, like corn and mash potatoes or green beans and rice. My breakfast is a cup of special k cereal with milk and for lunch usually a light sandwich, like tuna with carrot sticks on the side or Turkey with lettuce tomatoes on toast. As long as your portion are right it makes a big difference. As far as snacks you can eat as much popcorn as you like because it has no calories or fat, sorbet's and yogurts are also good choices. Fruit smoothies or shakes can also be satisfying. I went from 300lbs to 145 lbs in just one year on this diet. I still eat this way because once you get use to it it becomes part of your daily routine. None of this takes much time either.

Well, losing weight FAST is not smart as it usually comes back quickly and even more than before.
If you are working out a lot and eating healthy, then maybe you should see a doctor if you are continuing to gain weight. That is a sign of many illnesses.
Just remember - 'Not eating a lot' and eating well are 2 totally different things.

How tall r u? it would be pretty ridiculous if u r over 5"7-8 and are still worrying bout being 175 lbs. Not that you cannot get it down or should not get it down to make yourselves overall more fitter but I think somebody should send the girls a very clear picture that being really over-weight is a problem but not being size 2 is not a problem. Girls need to really understand that most of the times they r "fat" only when they r looking at themselves in the mirror.
well u could do some running, swimming, cycling . i would reccomend some positive stuff like working out to get in shape rather than negative stuff like going on crash diets. The problem with the latter is that they r hard to follow in the long term and as soon as u revert back to your old lifestyle u get ur weight back again.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

How tall are you? 175 might not be too bad depending on your height.

Count your calories. Your doctor can provide you with a guide that works pretty well.
It may not be how much you eat as what you eat. Also, be physically active. You don't tell your height, but 175 pounds may not be that bad. I have had good luck with SlimFast, but it may not work for everyone.
