Have a nice sit down talk about how you feel towards one another. And also share those differences. Then say something sweet to him so he doesn't get hurt and make it more at ease for the both of you.

I think the fact you have just moved out is a pretty good indication that things are on a downward slope. I'm sure he can't be so short of a picnic that he doesn't see it.
Whatever you do, make sure you do it in person. The lowest thing you can do is to break up on the phone, or in a msg etc. You need to explain to him why you can't be with him anymore, and most importantly - do not lie. Tell him the exact truth why. Without the details I can't pass comment on your reasons, but whatever the reason he can't become better for it if he doesn't understand, and neither can you.

Strike now. He probably already knows somethings afoot if you've moved out away from him (assuming you two shared a place).
Just don't drag it out too long or else he could end up feeling angry with you.
If it's not clicking with you, nows the time to walk away. Don't wait until you're married with kids to decide it's that time. You have no responsibility to stay with him.
Tell him hasta luego in the nicest way possible, um in a public place (I'm serious too) if you want to do it in person. You never can tell how someone will flake out these days.

3 years? Man, I couldn't even survive a relationship with a girl for even 1 year. =P Well....I guess all I can say is that if you two ever confront each other for one last time, just give him the 4-1-1 or whatever.

Seems like the moving out will go a long way toward telling him. Say "People change and grow - sometimes they grow apart. I love you and the time we spent together, but I need to move on. I am sorry. Good bye."
Peace!

It is better that you start ignoring him. You should not pay attention to his questions and give a gesture to him as if you do not like him. I am telling you this method as you have 3 years association with him. In the end he will also reach at the conclusion that you are not a good choice for him and the breakage will be there as desired by you.

Well if you still need some late nights from him then let him down easy and say you want to be friends
But if he has some issues then tell him where he can take his self.

No one can tell you what you should do or say. You have to speak from your heart. You are the only person in your shoes and the only person that knows how you feel...or maybe you don't, and you should be honest and tell him that. You will get through it, and he will too.
