it is not the business of positive atheists to be obsessed with the bible and Christianity. a true atheist with social commitment does not believe in the existence of god and questions the irrational things written in the religious texts of not only Christianity but also of other religions and does not choose the path of confrontation with others. a true atheist does not waste his time in discussing the existence of god but endeavor for the establishment of a society in which all the inequalities---gender, political, socio-economic ---do not exist.

Dear little sister, I see what others say here and feel for you. But keep up the good work. As you gain more education, you will get better at apologetics.
You are right Christians do have evidence.
But, as you see, people who don't believe in God or Jesus don't believe the Bible. They think it was made up. They think that good and bad things that happen are chance or maybe fate, but not from God or Jesus. There "world view" is different than ours.
So when debating we need to approach from sources that they can accept. Even still, if someone refuses to believe the Bible, they won't, no matter what we say.
Read Lee Strobel's "The Case for Christ". He was a atheist reporter who investigated the claims of Christianity and became a Christian as a result. He makes some very good arguments for Christianity in his book.
C.S. Lewis was an atheist professor who became a Christian. He wrote many works on Christianity. Read his book "Mere Christianity."
After reading these you may have some better arguments.
God bless you. Keep up the good work.

There is literally tons of evidence to support the existence of God, the validity and accuracy of the Bible, creation and other Biblical doctrines. The problem is that many have been blinded to the truth by the god of this age -Satan. These same individuals-atheists and all unbelievers- are slaves and followers of Satan whether they know it or not; whether they believe it or not; whether they admit to it or not. Most freely and willingly choose to go on being wilfully ignorant by not even looking at the abundance of evidence that is out there.Even the Hubble Space Telescope is sending back photographic evidence of a very young universe, and yet these people keep on believing The Lie -evolution. Only the power of the Holy Spirit can break through to these individuals. They have freely chosen to fall for the fables and lies of fallible man while rejecting the pure truth of the infallible Almighty God and His infallible Word, The Holy Bible. The problem began, I believe, when some Christians and their leaders tried to force the fables of fallible man into the infallible Bible instead of making the Bible their source for truth. ie:Rejecting the creation of everything in the universe in 6 literal solar days by the Lord God. Once that happened they lost their source of power and their foundation crumbled. Unbelievers, seeing this, would naturally question the validity of the entire Bible. Without God as the final authority man becomes the final authority. This is why the world is in the shape it's in today. We are rapidly approaching the evil of Sodom and Gomorah and the people in the days of Noah. And we all know what happened to them, don't we? We must fervently pray for these lost people, that God will open their eyes to the truth and pray that the powers of evil be bound and rendered powerless in the name of Jesus Christ. We must fight the good fight and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with this dying world.
The reason there is disease and death and violence and all sorts of evil is sin and God's curse as a punishment on sin. God is not the cause of these tragedies, Satan and man are, yet God always seems to get the blame -even from atheists who claim there is no God. The best proof that the Bible is the Word of God is in fulfilled prophecy, the existence of Israel as a nation and the Jews. The best proof in the accuracy and validity of the Bible can be found in numerous different resources, some of which I've listed below. However, the overwhelming majority of those who have answered or commented negatively on your question won't even look at one single solitary bit of the evidence because of sin, pride, wilful ignorance and satanically induced blindness

Ok... I'm not an atheist, but....
It's questions like this that make atheists shake their heads and wonder if they are living on a planet that contains any intelligent life.
The Bible is no more "evidence" than is the Egyptian Book of the Dead, or the Tao Te Ching. All are ancient texts.
Praying for healing, and a successful resolution happen with ANY religion, not just Christianity. It also happens to athiests when they don't pray. The thing is that believers take it as proof of divine intervention while atheists relate it to the power of human will.
So, the problem is these irritating posts that claim to "prove", with an attitude that seems to indicate that there is someone wasting electrons in a misguided attempt to produce a statement that tries to convey an actual fact. Basically, you wasted aproximately 400 - 500 bytes of text to produce a bit of rhetoric that shows only that you have no understanding of the word "proof".

...There is plenty of evidence that backs up the Bible.
...It includes the historical record - archaeological findings confirm the Bible - i.e. the findings at Ebla about 20 -25 years ago - and this was featured in National Geographic Magazine.
...There are thousands of copies and fragments of the New Testament, at least 25,000, more than any 10 pieces of antiquated literature put together - and skeptics don't put those books through the stringent tests that they put the Bible through.
...The Dead Sea scrolls basically proves that there has been no change in our Old Testament, and that it is trustworthy.
...RE healing: There are many gospels being proclaimed today, including gospels that promise you health, wealth, and/or political freedom. In my 29 years as a Christian I have never found one verse to support the idea that God guarantees full health, wealth, and political freedom to everyone in this life. Maybe somebody can show me verses that confirm these other gospels.
...It is okay to ask God to heal but we need to the attitude that Jesus had - "Nevertheless, not My will, but Thine be done." Sometimes God heals and often He does not. What I find is God allows pain and suffering so He can work in and through our lives to glorify Him - it also keeps us humble. We are told in Scripture that His grace is sufficient for me, and that we should rejoice in our weaknesses, that the power of God will be shown through our lives. We will have new bodies after we die.
...I also read Hebrews 11 (the believers' "hall of faith") - many of these people suffered as they did God's will - they were not living "high on the hog".
...God uses some people in special ways, like Joni Eareckson Tada, who is a quadraplegic. She has a tremendous ministry to others who suffer as she does.
...The Gospel is this: Christ died for our sins, He was buried, and He was raised on the 3rd day according to the Scriptures.
...Now we must "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved."
...Whosoever will, may come. I pray that you will.

You have evidence that some parts of a 5000 year old book match up with reality? I have proof that some parts of the Academy award winning film "Amadeus" match up with history too, but Amadeus is fiction. Some small parts of "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" match up with historic accounts, does that make it true as well?
Proving God actually healed someone is tricky, because for many diseases there always is a probablity of being cured. If 10 people have a fatal disease in which 6 of the 10 will die, and 8 of them pray, then there is a very good chance the one's who survive will have prayed. Does this mean that God saved them? No, it just means many people prayed. If 8 of them wore blue shirts while they were sick, there is a good chance the ones who survived would have worn blue shirts. Such cures through prayer are tricky things to prove statistically, many have tried and come out inconclusive--meaning there is no remarkable evidence of a difference if one prays or not. Real proof would be if an amputee prayed to grow an arm back and it happened without medical intervention.

The Bible can only be taken as evidence if you believe its true. If you're an atheist then you don't believe the Bible is true. That's kind of implied in the definition of atheist. So, when speaking to an atheist you have to come up with proof that the Bible is true. The argument that the Bible is true because it was given by God will not be recognized by an atheist because they don't believe in God. That's the actual definition of atheism.
That's what their problem is. They want you to back-up your Biblical evidence with non-Biblical evidence to prove that the source is reliable.
Start cracking the ancient history books.

The bible is not proof of anything. It was written by humans and a group of humans (the catholic church) decided what should and should not be included in the bible we know today. There are many other "books" that could have been included but would have changed many things that traditional xtianity believes. What is in the bible is so contradictory I don't know how anyone who has truly studied it can believe that it is a factual documentation of anything. I used to be a xtian. I used to pray and I would often feel better after I did. I can get the same effect by meditation, writing down my problems or talking to a friend about them. Prayer has a placebo affect. Honey if god answers prayers why do so many innocent suffer. Especially little children. I am sure if there were ever a more sincere and believing person it would be a child. Open your eyes and your heart. You will indeed be better off. I say this in all sincerity

You do have proof and the proof works for you. The difficulty is that that same proof does not work for us. Briefly:
The Bible - in our view the bible is full of holes. Check out www.skepticsannotatedbible.com for examples. Given all this we can not accept it as anything more than a mythology.
Praying for stuff - Things happen. Sometimes what we want and sometimes what we don't want. Sometime it happens now and sometimes it might not happen for 50 years. To us this seems like no proof at all. Example: You are praying for your mother to get well. If she does get well then you say that god answered your prayers. But if she doesn't get well then you say that god still heard your prayers but the he wanted to "bring her to heaven" instead. Hopefully she would get well. But sometimes that just happens and really doesn't prove that god did anything.
So, I understand that you think you have evidence and you might actually be right. But the model goes totally against are thinking process.
Does that make any sense?

I'm a Christian but those things do not prove conclusive evidence.
1) The Bible, although it may be historically based, is only truthful if it is "the Word of God" or if the "Word of God" is conveyed through it, and of course that would only be an opinion. You can't prove that the Bible is the Word of God anymore than you can disprove that Age of Reason by Thomas Paine is the Word of God.
2) If you refer to the Dead Sea Scrolls, there were no New Testament books found with them. I believe the oldest known New Testament manuscripts date back to 90AD, and I'm not sure what scripture it is, but I know that one from either 90AD or 1100Ad is a fragment of the Gospel of John.
3) Prayer is more of perspective evidence instead of documentative evidence. In other words, one person might pray and consider their prayer answered, another may not. To say that answered prayers "Prove" the Bible would be the same as saying that unanswered prayers "Disprove" the Bible. Neither answered prayers or unanswered prayers provide any undeniable evidence....... The answered prayer may be coincidence, the unanswered prayer may be insincere prayers or simply it wasn't God's will, or God didn't answer exactly as you intended.
-----
People believe in their religion because it is the one most clearly revealed to them personally. If you believe the Bible, and believe prayers were answered by God that may convince you, but YOUR personal experience does not prove that your religion is true for EVERYONE.

So okay by this logic everything man rights down it must be true? does this count There is no god. Does this make sense? Evolution has been written down in books, yet it is not considered true to most theist. What about all the other writings of man either science or spiritual throughout time Yet you claim yours to be proof
As far as prayer, that just kind of starts to show how easily fooled man is in their quest to convince themselves there is something more to life & that they are something special. Have you ever actually witnessed this without the blindness of faith? It is nothing more than coincidense, nothing more (possibly some type of scam in certain situations) Just ask yourself next time is this something that really would not have happened had I not prayed the next time someone seeing a doctor is "healed"
there is to much to explain here I really feel like I am just waisting time so
Peace
