BAD BREATH or BODY ODOR:
Take a magnesium supplement daily. People with body or mouth odors usually are deficient in magnesium. Or you could need a Vitamin B or Zinc supplement as being deficient in either can cause breath odor.
Don't eat offensive foods like garlic or onions. You are what you eat for several days afterwards.
When a person has a foul odor to their body, has frequent desire to urinate, and has a problem with mouth and gum sores, it is a sign they need Mercurius Vivus, a homeopathic remedy.
Take 2 Chlorophyll capsules daily to help stop any type body or mouth odors.
Chew on fresh sprigs of parsley, rosemary, or basil after a meal to rid the mouth of foul odors.
Suck on a coffee bean to cleanse the breath, but be careful not to swallow the bean.
Chew on cardamom seeds, but do not swallow them.
Drink peppermint tea or take peppermint capsules.
Use 3% hydrogen peroxide as a mouth rinse daily, also gargling with it, so it reaches the back of your throat. Brush your teeth and tongue with a combination of equal parts of baking soda and sea salt. This will give you clean, white teeth and a fresh smelling mouth when done on a regular basis.
Take between 2000 and 6000 mg. Vitamin C daily to rid the body of foul odors.
Take a warm bath daily and add 1 cup baking soda and sea salt mixed into your bath water to stop body odor. Shampoo your hair daily as it can also harbor odors.
You can take activated charcoal tablets bought from an herb store to stop body odors if they are caused internally. Take as directed on the bottle.

Green/red candies/mints. If it turns completely black it should be cut off of the body at the soonest availability.
Bad breath, OTOH, usually originates from poor hygiene. Brush teeth, and eat no meat, or bunch of other stuff. ESPECIALLY boiled cabbage! (Sorry, that's out the other end ;-)
Normally, though, teeth decay when damaged and generally smell pretty bad over time. Odds are, your bro needs a dentist to show him how to take better care of his mouth.

Could it be all the Pepto Bismal he's been taking for his sour stomach? That will give you a black spot on your tongue and the sour stomach will give you rotten breath.

I don't know, but he needs to see a dentist or doctor. There are certain conditions which manifest in the mouth - he needs to get it checked out.
