Puppies get their first set of teeth beginning at 4-5 weeks of age and the puppy set continue to come in up to about 10-12 weeks. They then lose their puppy teeth beginning around 4 months but as late as 7 months and then their permanent adult teeth come in.

They start losing their puppy teeth around 4 months and in general most new teeth come through within a month or so - but the very back ones take a little longer to bed into the gums. Do not confuse teething with "mouthing" that a puppy does from young.

Puppies teethe from 4 months (16 weeks) to around 7 months. During this time they will chew excessively, have sore teeth and gums and will lose all of those sharp puppy teeth and grow in adult teeth.
During this time it is important to supply the puppy with lots of frozen items: add frozen peas and carrots to their food, freeze toys and offer ice if they will eat it. Remember they are in pain and discomfort often during this time so you need to help by offering frozen items which will curb the chewing and pain.
