I had this same problem and Neosporin LT ointment worked wonders for me! It's specially made for severely dry lips.

What works best for me is to scrub moist lips (with a facial scrub like St. Ives), like when your in the shower, and apply your facial moisturizer to them. Even Sally Hansen makes a good (green tea and vitamins) lip lotion in a gloss w/ wand type container, that I use through out the day. The point is, the methods you've tried only seal moisture, not replenish it and work on the healing. I also use Murad lip repair after the lotion has soaked in to seal the lip. Drinking enough water (said to be half your body weight in ounces *100 pounds = 50oz of water). When my lips are hurt and have caused me to bleed i have put a light coating of triple antibiotic ointment them often, until healed. The upper portion of my reply is pure maintains. I live at a high elevation (6400 ft.) and have trouble through out the year even with enough water. Oh yeah, no licking the lips!! Hope this helps!

Try some peroxide. Wash your lip twice a day. Do you have a store that sells a lip balm called Bert's Bees? Or go to a health food store and look for a balm that has bees wax, some tee tree oil and maybe some cocoa butter. Those 3 things will help most sores heal up fast.

increase your fluid intake, don't like your lips and also at bed time place on some vitamin e liquid ( I use the capsules as they are cheaper) just pierce one and rub into your lips.

I have been using this for the last couple of weeks on my daughter who had the same problem. ( it was at the advice of her Doctor) and I have seen a great improvement. He also told us to not use Carmex as it will dry the lips up more.

Hope that helps!
