forget about what was written in the religious texts. there is no question of one gender superior and another inferior. both are equal. WOMEN HOLD UP HALF OF THE SKY.

Aye, Lilith does hold back women as does a poor reading of the Hebrew. Eve is not created as a "helpmate", but literally in the Hebrew as one "alongside of."
Lilith denies humanity the power of creation which women uniquely carry.
And, as you mention, it is a very late reference, w/ no prior mythology to support it. Nowhere does God refer to Eve as the inferior woman. In fact, Prov. 1 has Wisdom, a feminine deity name, offer the knowledge that Eve obtained.
That women havve been held back is a given, Lilith is hardly the reason.

The truth is niether, however if you want a certian sex answer I would say a woman.
I mean think about it most men let women control them. Think about this for a minute. God told Adam and Eve to not eat the apple. Eve did and told Adam to and he did. He defied God for his woman.
You can see this same thing today. Women use sex to control every aspect of a mans life and most men fall for this. However some men control thier women by force and such. Then there are a few that have equal relationships.
However in most cases it is a woman in control (at least as far as I've seen)
so it's all dependant upon the person

Men and women are of equal value to God. God might have put man as the head of the family, but that does not make him superior. Have you worked for someone before? Do you really think your boss was superior to you? Very few people would say that. Woman should submit to the position her husband has, and should respect his position. Man should love his wife and think of her before himself.
I've never heard of lillith before, and would not be surprised if it came from pagan daimons.
I do believe the Bible.

In the USA or in Iraq? For Lilliths brave(stupid?) actions no one on Earth has ever heard of her. On the other hand, every one knows about Eve. Plus mankind is here because of Eve.!! Which of Adams ribs was Lillith made from? The safest way to look at it is for women to say they are partners of their man. How can women go toe to toe with a man? Men average bigger and stronger, women are made to procreate and nurse the babies. Their bodies are wrecked by pregnancies. A woman and her children depend on a man for their lives. Except in the USA where the government and welfare are doing the man's work too much. Women wear long hair, necklaces, high heels, tight skirts , all demonstrating that they cannot or will not fight. Why torture yourself about being on top? Stay on the bottom and be thankful some one wants you. Hopefully, by giving him your love and allegiance he will stay with you and return your loyalty through old age.

I think that Pagan Europe was a threat to Christianity, with its emphasis on the power of women. Goddesses such as Brighid were never subservient to men. Women had much power and were respected.
The Bible places less value on the life of women, from Genesis onward.

God created Man in His image. Man is the single most beautiful object to God. Man was crafted and molded within this Earth to be beautiful and strong. Man was smart enough to protect his family and build himself a meaning. Woman was a creation from man making "Her" one step less perfect than "He". Lilith has no mention in the Holy Bible. I am not against women or anything but I think God favors man moreover.
