this may be possible as a tsunami is a result of an earthquake in the oceanic crust which results from the shifting of plates..
so a seismograph should pick it up..unfortunately in indonesia we didnt have notice early enough to save many lives..
and yes ive heard some animals can sense the tremors earlier than we feel themm...like you see birds fly away before we feel anything...it has something to do with their bodies i guess nothing supernatural.

Yes, tsumanis can be predicted and there is equipment set up to do this. Sometimes it has worked, sometimes not. I recall reading recently that there is some new equipment being installed and upgrades to some existing equipment.
One of the biggest problems is the time frames involved. The earthquake must be detected and analyzed to determine the likelyhood of of a tsunami and its magnitude. The results must be communicated to population centers that are at risk. Then the people must be evacuated. The issue is that all of this must take place within the time from the earthquake until the tsunami makes land fall. If the earthquake is not far off shore, then obviously, there is not much that can be done in the short time before the tsunami hits.

Seismographs measure the shift in the tectonic plates beneath the earth's surface. When the tectonic plates shift enough, an earthquake usually is the result. Earthquakes and shifting of the tectonic plates do sometimes cause tsunami's (tidal waves). I would say that seismograph measurements are an accurate way to help predict tsunamis. I believe that animals can "predict" when bad weather is coming. Have you ever noticed your pets acting strangely right before a bad thunderstorm or tornado? In areas where tsunamis happen, the animals usually head for higher ground before the tsunami hits.

Yes... because a tsumani is made by earthquakes on the ocean floor. Animals have a better sense. No explanation why.
