My dog has had constant diarrhea for the past 24 hours, I just want to know if anyone has any tips on how to help relieve this. I don't really wanna take him to the vet if I don't have to.

For an upset stomach or diarrhea pepto bismol is the best.
If the dog is not eating or drinking you have to take him to the vet.

But from time to time they get tummy problems.

Try a very bland diet.

Cook Hamburger (lean) make sure it is cooked well with nothing add they don't need salt. And rice u can use minute rice but long grain is best.

When this happens to my dog I cook enough for a couple of days and keep it in the fridge.

I heat it to room temp before giving it to him ( he likes it better that way )

If the problem continues for more than three days go to the vet.

Make sure that he is getting enough fluids. He is losing lot out the other end.

At any time you feel that he is getting worse take him in. It is better to have to pay a vet than losing your pet.

Lots of love

Trusport hit it on the head, do not give the dog chicken, bolied beef and rice for 2 days then start adding dry dog food into the mix, if the diarrhea still exist a vet visit is in order, chicken and table scraps can give some dogs diarrhea, my dog can not even eat dog food with chicken in it. Be sure to offer lots of water to keep him hydrated, Good luck

One of my guys was a stud for a guide dog organization - here is the directions they gave us.
Withhold fold for 24 hours, if you feed 2x a day skip a meal.
Boil long cooking rice with lean ground beef and add adult dose of Pepto, First meal is 1/2 the size of regular meal.
Then give rice and lean gb with pepto in same amount as regular dog food until 24 hours diarrhea free.

The most important thing is to make sure that he is not dehydrated. Pull up his scruff (loose skin on back of neck). If it bounces back to normal quickly, then he is likely not dehydrated..a good sign. If it stays wrinkled up a bit, then he is dehydrated and needs to see the vet tomorrow! If your dog is not eating or drinking, if he is also vomiting, or if his diarrhea has blood in it, then you need to get him to the vet tomorrow at the latest. It could just be upset from dietary indiscretion or it could be something more serious, such as intestinal parasites (worms) or a virus (such as parvo). Take up his food (leave the water). You can give him pepto bismol or kaopectate. If he is not better, tomorrow, please take him to the vet.

Also, if you try the chicken and rice diet, remember to not season the rice or chicken with anything, not even salt.

One final note...if this is something more serious, such as parvo, then waiting for 48 (or even 24) more hours may prove to be a fatal mistake. Please heed the advice you receive (even mine) with caution. A visit to the vet is your safest bet.

Cook and drain ground beef, cook white rice, drain and mix the two. Feed this and if no improvement in 24 hours, see a vet. Any diarrhea that lasts longer than 48 hours is serious and your dog need medical attention.

Try a little Mylanta or Anti-diarrheal medicine. Just a little bit should work. That is what the vet told me to give my dad's dog when she was having diarrhea really bad from some pain pills they gave her after her leg surgery. Hope your dog feels better soon!!

P.S. Sometimes you can call the vet and ask what is safe to give a dog (give the dog's size and age) for diarrhea.

Because this has only been happening for 24 hours then there is really nothing to worry about just yet, however if it persists, you might try feeding him a different type of dog food that contains vegetables with fiber or rice. Your dog may have eaten something that upset his stomach and if it is short term, only time will fix it.

If there are no other symptoms( blood in the stool, vomiting, weakness, etc.) then you can give Imodium A.D. at a dose of one 2 mg.tablet per 20 lbs.of body weight every 12 hours. Also withhold food for 24 hours, but provide water, then feed the dog boiled hamburger with the fat drained off(or skinless chicken breast),and well-cooked rice, gradually switching back to his regular dog food over a period of days. You Might try a bit of plain, unsweetened yogurt as well. This should help.If it doesn't,or if he gets worse, you need to take him to the vet.Good luck.

Take him off his foods for 24 hours and very little water. Then if it seems a bit better feed him cooked lean ground beef with cooked rice and some cottage cheese in small amounts 3 times a day for a few days til he is better.

This has never failed for me and it makes them well instantly. Depending on the size of your dog give him an Imodium AD pill. For medium dog give one half the pill and a whole pill for large dogs.
Then you cook rice and ground beef (separate, not in the same pan) When that is cooked, mix together with cottage cheese. Feed this for the remainder of loose stools.

Make sure he is drinking plenty of water. I would give him the pill tonight and no food or water until morning. Then start the diet and give him fresh water.
