i have checked my local newsapers for kitten ads, but since its in the dead of winter, (even if theres no snow) its hard to find kittens. "kitten season" is in spring. i have also tried the newspapers online ads, but i couldnt find any there, either. thank you for you answers so far, though.
and by the way, i have already done the milk and food on the front porch thing. (j/k) hahaha

Most of the adoption facilities are linked to petfinder.com. Even if you find another internet site, they are probably already linked to petfinder. If everything listed is too far away, try looking in your local paper. There are usually a lot of ads giving away free kittens. You should also check the website of your local newspaper. They might have an ad for kittens to be adopted, or you could run a free ad looking for a kitten to adopt. Hope this helps.

It really depends on what kind of cat you would like to adopt. Depending on the breed, there is usually a rescue site for them. For instance:
http://www.siameserescue.org/
http://www.forestcats.net/rescue.htm
http://www.persiancats.org/

There are a lot of rescue sites, and they usually have satellite centers in other states. Or, go to your local Humane Society. I just found my second cat at the Humane Society here in Indianapolis. There are so many that need homes. Good luck!

What's wrong with Petfinder?

Not sure about websites, but you can try networking through local animal control officers, veterinarians, and shelters. If there's a website based nearby, they'll know about it.
