It's funny to see the posts equating "psychology" with "therapy". More evidence of a lack of education on this site.
Anyway, Psychology is the study of the "psyche". It describes behavior. It explains why we do things using the scientific method. It is considered a "soft" science in that expirements are not able to be conducted in the same way as many physical or chemical expirements are. Opening and expirementing on the brain of a living person can be unethical.
Because psychology deals with behavior and discounts God, some Christians consider it anti-christian. Most psychologists consider homosexuality to not be a disease or choice, and are shunned by many Christians.
Psychologists such as Jung dealt with religion in a way that makes many religious uncomfortable. Some psychologists believe in reincarnation, and there is a compelling and growing body of evidence to support that view.
Basically, psychology is another science that has areas in conflict with some religions.

Psychology is the study of the mind, of how the brain works. I do not believe that it has a dark side nor a good side, it is just another way of helping people to understand the going ons of their body.

I've heard of Christian psychologists. A friend of mine went to a Psychiatrist who suggested she was possessed. These idiots should be reported. I've studied some psychology and it is based on research and science. Religion should be kept separate. By the same token, psychology should not be "anti" anyone's belief system.

You must establish the philosophical basis from which a therapist practices. Many practice from a non-christian philosophy. If the therapist works with the idea that humans are basically good or that sin is no big deal, then the presumptions are anti-biblical.
There are Christian therapists who work from a Biblical basis and can be very helpful.

Well, if tell you one thing and you have been told another thing, I had better offer some evidence.
Psychology is the non=medical side of psychiatry. It is a fairly knew science, Freud, or the fascination with thinking is old. The word literally means the study of the psyche or mind. It is an honorable profession, well paid - I pay mine about $150 an hour.

Look this is a brilliant question, you have asked...and its nice to see someone with brains.
Psychology to me(and I have studied Theology)also...is to help, the troubled mind...right.
After all one can be a doctor of Psychology...which is a extension of medicine...true enough.I would say...to me...no its not anti-christian.Only because we use psychology, to see if someone is mentally stable?...or even able?..and we really need it, with issues with children..esp growing up.
I think Dr Phil is a psychologist! and he IS a christian...very much so...Pray on it, ask God to show YOU....do lots of work finding out what it is all about.
I wish I could help more, but.......just for now, seek as much info
as you possible can, on the science.
It has helped so many people, I would find it impossible to not use myself.

oh my goodness. Psychology is simply us trying to understand how we think and why we think the way we do. It also includes how we behave and why we act the way we do. That is not evil, or anti-christian, or the "dark side".

I think they are almost unrelated.
Like math isn't related to Christianity, bu tobviously math is not from the dark side, it explains what goes on around us.
Psychology is the same way except more like statistical....its the study or definition of what usually happens.

I swear, you'd think that Christianity was as fragile as a glass Christmas ornament, the way people go worrying about something coming along speaking against it.
Psychology is neutral on the issue of religion. It seeks to help understand how humans think, feel and behave, and in clinical settings, it seeks to help people by relieving their suffering.
If those actions are anti-Christian, then it is anti-Christian. If they are not anti-Christian, then you can rest easy.
I think that if you have one ounce of curiosity or compassion, you will want to have such activities continue.
