He has been fixed, hes not spraying, hes peeing on the couch. He used to do it due to UTI's, they have cleared up but the old habit is still there. He only does it every now and then, but its enough to make the smell linger. Ive found something that removes the smell and urine for awhile, but he keeps going back!

Hes only four.

There's a liquid product at every pet store called "Nature's Miracle." It's designed to stop pets from returning to the spot they mark. You apply it to the affected area or furniture to remove the stain and to neutralize the odor which triggers them to do it over and over in the same spot. We have had great success with it and it is safe for most fabrics.

Get a large bottle of Febreeze. Spray the couch all over with the Febreeze until it's pretty wet. Let dry and repeat until all the cat urine smell is gone. I got a Sealy Posturpedic Mattress from a neighbor whose cats were incontinent due to feline leukemia. All my cats were innoculated against the disease and it was an almost new mattress. I used the Febreeze to kill the smell and my cats never peed on it again after that. It simply didn't smell to them like a toilet anymore. Best wishes. He's got issues. You may need to change to an unscented scoopable litter in his box. My guess is that the scent or texture of the litter you use is offensive to him, so he, in his turn is offensive to you. It's a message you should have recognized.

Good luck with that! Cat urine smell don't go away. You may mask it a little, but it is never gone. Knowing that he is 4 yrs old, he will not stop doing it either. I had a roommate in collage that had a male cat, and it "marked" everything. I suggest burning the couch and everything else it urinates on, or giving up the cat.

He'll never stop doing it...and the only way to stop him...is to get rid of him or the couch. If he has sprayed anywhere else in the house he will keep doing that. My aunt's cat does it all the time, but she won't get rid of her until she passes on. It's her baby. It's a terrible smell though...I won't even go over there...because there is nothing that will ever remove that smell from the carpet. They already told her she will need new floorboard and carpet. Good Luck with him.

My cat had a certain spot on the carpet to pee. I shampooed it using Mean Green & water. You can get it at your local dollar store. After it dried, I sprayed the spot with pure ammonia. Solved the problem. Cats hate strong smells. Good luck.
