yeah it's sick and it's part of the mental illness that they imagine that they do you a big favor by threatening you with eternal torture and that somehow the fate of your soul is in their hands. they feel that if they have the opportunity to "warn" you and don't that they'll be blamed for your damnation. it's a form of arrogant spiritual egotism and no religion has it so deeply embedded as Christianity does.
PS. it's especially creepy when the openly gloat over the agony you'll one day suffer for having rejected their attempt to convert you.

There are a few things worse, but it is an extremely arrogant and self-rightious thing to say.
What these people forget is that people who are not Christians are usually Christians for a reason...they usually have their own set of beliefs in place already. Some of those beliefs include the notion that "Hell" is (gasp!) mythical.
These Christians also fail to grasp is that by telling someone that they are going to hell, they are passing their judgement on that person. Not nessecarily their god's judgement, just theirs. The are saying that you will go to hell, IN THEIR OPINION. And they arrogantly presume that their opinion is concurrent with God's.

Why would it even matter? If you truely dont beleive in their god; you dont believe in their heaven or hell any way.
When ever some one feels bad inside, they will criticize others. Have you ever heard, for example: who ever is most weary of cheating in a relationship is the one who is already cheating. Social and psychological sciences have explained this over and over again..
Or like when someone chooses to correct all your grammatical mistakes or pronunciations, that person is trying to gain status on you because they believe they are below you.
I love this : Should you find yourself the victim of other people's bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities; remember, things could be worse. You could be one of them!
If it still pisses you off, then it is called personal conviction.

I'm a Christian and I believe the Bible, but I don't believe the Bible teaches that the unsaved will suffer eternally. Some passages are thought to say so, but I think they are interpreted wrong. I believe the lake of fire is symbolic of the unbeliever being sent away from God into oblivion. I think fire is used in the Bible so that people will understand that they will be completely destroyed because when we think of fire's destruction, it completely consumes until only ashes are left.

Isn't certainly aisn't tactful, but given the freedom of speech we profess as necessary, it is a great deal gentler than many R rated films.

Hell will be destroyed with those who are lost as well as the Devil and his Angels. All will be thrown into the lake of fire to be burned up.Eternally dead.Hell is a place that the lost go waiting on judgment day. Then all will be judged , those who arn`t saved then will be thrown into the lake of fire, this is the second death. All men are to die once, except those who are alive when Jesus returns. In other words all will die once but there will be those who after the judgment will die the second time. They will be gone for ever and won`t be remembered.

It certainly is not the best way to go about it, I agree. People should be drawn to the Lord by our genuine love for them, not by beating them with doctrine.
But-- just stop for a minute and consider-- What if what they are saying is absolutely true (and I believe it is). Is it kind or good or best to be silent and not give a warning to thoseabout us?
