People always say that when you break up with someone, I look around and say oh yeah, can't you tell they've been breaken my door down to get with me or to be with me.

I only say that if the person was treated real bad by their partner.
If it was only a normal type of split I will tell my friend, "There are other wonderful men out there." etc.

I think it is because normally when people break up there is a good reason for it, whether it is as extreme as abuse or cheating, to a mutual break up, it just wasn't "meant" to be. The next best thing *is* just around the corner. Yes it takes time to even get over a mutual break up because there was some thing there that caused you to get together in the first place. Yet when you are on the outside of the box, so to speak, they are involved emotionally so they can see the corner sooner than the person who was involved emotionally and dealing with the loss.

Maybe because they think highly of you and really believe that you can do better. There are plenty of people out there that haven't been found yet, give yourself a chance to get to know them and don't be in such a rush for a commitment. I'm sure the people you know would know your b/f or g/f and either say why did you break up that was dumb or you can do better. Meaning just what they say.

That is one of the oldest lines in the book, it is right up there with "it's not u, it's me" They only say that to make the blow a little lighter and to make themselves feel better too. If people were truely honest when they split up with someone then that line would rarely be used.

It generally has something to do with the way the questioner words his / her question. Those who whine usually get sympathy from those who just happen to answer their question.

they basically want you to feel better no matter who is at fault. they don't need the whole story, or any of it at all, they are trying to be supportive.
