Nothing is proven, but this site should help:

It is almost impossible to determine because the majority of people do belong to a religious sect. Personally, I'd go with the secularists. Haven't met one who wasn't intelligent. Those who encourage free thought and support the rights of everyone to keep their own faith are following our first amendment anyway. Some of our greatest Presidents were Secularists. I personally believe that there is something 'after' death (which means I am not totally secular) but what it is, I don't know. There is no proof either way. I believe in "god" in a much different way than those who are religious. I believe there is an energy all around that has a spiritual feel to it but I could as much prove that as make the stars stop shining.

Statistics say that we are to come to God as a small child-humbly with no wisdom of our own.

For that reason, I would say secularists have a higher worldly IQ. But true Christians have a higher spiritual IQ.

Now the question is, which one is better to have? And remember, the spiritual IQ comes from God. We can't create it ourselves.

Secularists. However, many secularists "do" believe in God, just not the Abrahamic god of the Judeo-Christian religion.

In an undergraduate student project at UC Davis, Regan Clark points out that there is little research directly linking IQ with higher or lower levels of religiosity and spirituality. Clark's article in Explorations: An undergraduate research journal (2004) found, while noting that the unrepresentative sample limited generalizations, no significant correlation between religiosity levels and IQ scores.

religion is not a relevant variable with a significant enough contribution to make a statistical difference.

There is no proof I am aware of that there is a statisically significant differance in the united states.

Biasedly speaking, I think the Bible Belt throws it off.

IQ's are a function of the brain, not of its usage or believe structure.
