My male cat, Stewie, is a little over 2 years old now. I felt kind of bad when I would leave for school for hours at a day and he was home by himself. So I got a female kitten, Phoenix, she's been living in my home for about 3 months now. But everytime my older cat would try to sleep, she would come up and try to play. He either just wakes up and moves or he starts growling at her. They do get along and Stewie follows her around to make sure she is OK. But how do I keep her from ruining my 2 year cat's nap???

Stewie has adopted her and growls at her because he is teaching her how to behave. You shouldn't try to get involved in that because it is actually good for the kitten. As she gets older she will avoid interrupting his naps. If he is really put off by it then he will box her a few times and then the fight will be over and she will understand the boundary that he is setting. Otherwise I wouldn't think anything of it. Believe me, if your older cat is losing too much sleep then he will let her know it. Otherwise it sounds to me like he loves spending time with her so much that he doesn't care and they are close so this is great.

But if you really think that Stewie is being disturbed then put him in a separate part of the house and let him sleep alone in there for a few hours each day.

You really can't. The best way to help Stewie out is to distract her by playing with her when she tries to disturb his naps. However, since you can only do this when you're home, he'll be on his own when you're at school. It's not so bad though--cats sleep a lot, and having a new friend around will help him to not be lonely, even if she is annoying sometimes. :) She will outgrow it in a few months, especially if you give her lots of attention and toys.

I don't think there is a way to keep her from bothering Stewie unless you keep them seperate which would be silly since you got her for company for Stewie. She will eventually grow out of being a bothersome pain to him and will probably curl up with him.
